    1. Re: [KYBUTLER] BAKER descendants
    2. Hi I was investigating your Bunyan Baker in the 1930 census as I have some Bakers in my tree (No Jacob). I see that Bunyan lived 2 houses down from my GGrandfather Jack Carroll. So I would like to help you with your search. Maybe we can come up with something. The holidays will be very busy so I may not be able to do to much until after the New Year. The Bakers in my tree come from James Baker b 1793 and his wife Nancy Robinson, They had a son James Madison Baker b 1833--Nancy died 1840 (I don't have a birthdate). 2. I need help with the children of Nicholas Phelps, who was born in VA, and died somewhere in Butler Co. (I assume) around 1840. I have not been able to find his grave site or death date or location. Does anyone have "proof" of Nicholas Phelps and Mary Biggerstaff's children? Anything documenting parentage and sibling relationships? I need to prove that they were the children of Nicholas & Mary Phelps. (Marriage bonds and land transactions, etc.) I have the following children listed for them, but am lacking proof or documentation that they are indeed their children: 1 - Samuel, b: 1794, married Rebecca Ann Martin, December 01, 1836, marriage documented in Butler Co., KY. 2 - William, b: 1795, married Nancy Bratcher, December 29, 1821. Marriage documented in Butler Co., KY First Marriage Index Book, Part 1, 1810-1890, Jo Wright, Desert Road Publications, Morgantown, Kentucky, 1999. 3 - John B., b: June 04, 1796, married Martha"Patsy" Burden, September 13, 1819. Marriage documented in Butler Co., KY First Marriage Index Book, Part 1, 1810-1890, Jo Wright, Desert Road Publications, Morgantown, Kentucky, 1999. 4 - Mary "Polly", b: 1797, married Zabriel Holmes, May 18, 1826. Marriage documented in Butler Co., KY First Marriage Index Book, Part 1, 1810-1890, Jo Wright, Desert Road Publications, Morgantown, Kentucky, 1999. 5 - Sally, b: February 1799, married John Lacefield, December 29, 1821. Marriage documented in Butler Co., KY First Marriage Index Book, Part 1, 1810-1890, Jo Wright, Desert Road Publications, Morgantown, Kentucky, 1999. 6 - Julia K., b: 1800. No proof of her. Was she their child? Did she die young? 7 - Julian R. "River", b: January 20, 1801, married Sarah "Sally" Elizabeth Smith, December 11, 1823. Marriage documented by Butler Co., Ky., Marriages 1810-1865. Married by Benjamin Burden, witnessed by Sally's father, Jacob Smith. MY direct ancestor. 8 - Elizabeth Betsey, b: 1802, married Jonathan E. 1. [KYBUTLER] (no subject)
    2. OK...I usually go to usgenweb.com...choose Kentucky as state. On the next page search down for Newspaper on microfilm. Then choose from the left column "Master negative collection". From this you choose what city and county of Kentucky you want to search for newspapers. This will list all the newspaper in that area and reel numbers. My library pays the interlibrary loan costs for me. Ask your librarian for help. I think it costs about $15-17 a roll. but your library may pay for it or some of it. Butler County has the Green River Banner from 1888-1940 and 1953- 1956. Then from almost 1956 thru. There is also copies of the Butler County Banner too, I think from 1956 forward. Thanks Lynne FT Wayne IN

    3. Shantell, You should look into the University of Kentucky, they microfilmed a lot of Kentucky newspapers, I believe including the Butler County papers (for the early ones). They offer all of them through ILL. Alice Warner Shantell Ford wrote: > Hi! > Are these newspapers you are seeing on microfilm, is that through the LDS family history centers?
