    2. Sorry, I pushed send before I was ready. I am searching for Kennedy Baxter and Family that were in Butler Co. until 1860 census. They all fell off the planet. I don't know if they all died or moved. But I thought that a deed after 1860 may help me narrow it down. If anyone has access to any records that would help me find out what happened to them, I would sure appreciate it Thank you Alma

    2. Braxton Clark(e) was born in Pittsylvania County in 1805 he is the son of Sergeant John Clark born in Maryland around 1741. John and family came to Logan County in 1816. Families traveling with the Clark's were Berryman Dalton and his wife (Braxton's sister) Sarah Cook stepdaughter of Jane Cook Clark and John Clark. Jesse Dalton and John's daughter Catherine Clark. Elijah Cook Jr son of Jane Clark. and first husband Elijah Cook Sr Francis Clarke (1795) brother of Braxton. Braxton was in Butler County in 1840 and John his father was on the pension roll. I have Braxton's records through 1860 when he was living in Muhlenberg County and then his entire family along with the Larimon's disappear. I have his John his fathers records including his pension There was on more brother and 2 sisters in the 1820 census that I cannot account for. Braxton had a Brother in Pulaski County...Thomas Stewart Clark who married Drusilla Earp. He had a brother in Simpson County by the name of John C Clark he married Beneta Hughes. He had a sister in Sumner County named Mary Nancy Clark she married Thomas Sadler. If anyone has a family that migrated at the same time or they know the identity of the other children please let me know. There is another Clark family in Logan at the time but they may not be related. Thanks Cass C Johnson

    2. [email protected] writes: > Can someone check two dates for me?? I have two dates for a marriage for > R. H. Puckett and Fineta Sweatt... I have the month of Feb and March??? Lynne, While the above marriage is indexed as 25 Feb 1868, it appears that the bond was obtained on 25 May 1868, and the marriage followed a day later, on 26 May 1868. Ephriam Bailey and George Sweatt were witnesses. The minister was J. S. Chandler. I believe the bondsman was John Viles. I would have to recheck this marriage to be absolutely certain, but I'm pretty sure the above is correct. James Cardwell and Sarah J. Sowders married on 21 May 1868, and their record appears in Book 5, page 219. R. H. and Finetta were next to marry, Book 5, page 221. William Kirby and Cornelia Jones (or Cordelia, depending whether you look at the index or the record) were married on 28 May 1868, and their marriage is found in Book 5, page 223. The Butler County marriage-bond books were kept in chronological order, so without double checking the actual record, I believe you would be safe in recording your Puckett/Sweatt marriage bond as May 25, and your marriage certificate as May 26, of 1868. The first marriage index book for Butler County was created some time after 1929 (because it is all in the same handwriting, and ends in March of 1929), and while it can (almost) always be used to locate a marriage, the person who wrote all those 13,000 plus names and dates sometimes made slight (or not so slight) errors. Therefore, once the marriage is located, it's a good idea to check the actual record for the correct spelling of names, for dates, etc. I have occasionally found the name of a bondsman and groom interchanged, and likewise the name of a bride and a witness. It makes for interesting relationships when you check the census. Jo http://members.aol.com/desertroad

Scalpelli faces a felony charge of disturbing a cemetery without a permit, and misdemeanor charges of cemetery mischief and moving a grave memorial without a recording.
