It's from Norman Payne's book: "Payne and Associated families of Breckinridge County, KY": JUBAL McCOY, the eighth child of William and Joanna (Payne) McCoy, was born about 1799 (according to 1850 census) in Bedford County, Virginia. In Bedford County on 17 February 1825 he married Tamsey Smelser who was born 1802/3 in Virginia. John Smelser signed as surety. She was the daughter of Abraham and Sallie Smelser. Jubal and Tamsey migrated to Breckinridge County, Kentucky between 1835 and 1840 according to the births of their children in the 1850 census. Next they moved to Jasper County, Illinois. On 17 June 1878, Tamsey McCoy of Jasper County, hired an attorney to dispose of her one-eleventh interest in the property of her deceased parents near Bufordville, Bedford County, Virginia. The power-of-attorney was recorded in Bedford County Deed Book YY-51, pages 93-94. On 6 July 1878 she received $130 when the property was sold to Rowland D! . Buford. The settlement was recorded on page 94 of the same book and Book ZZ-52, pages 182-183. Jubal and Tamsey were the parents of at least five children. 1) SALLY McCOY was born 1830 (1825?) in Bedford County, Virginia. 2) JOANNA McCOY was born 1833 in Bedford County, Virginia. 3) JAMES McCOY was born 1835 in Bedford County, Virginia. 4) NANCY McCOY was born 1840 in Kentucky 5) MATILDA McCOY was born 1843 in Kentucky
