My grandmother Emma Lou ALLEN PIERCE taught what she referred to as "Spring School" when she was very young. I always just thought this was probably like our summer school. After seeing this email I am wondering if I assumed too much and possibly it might have been the name of a school or sunday school etc. I am clueless. She was a Baptist all the years I knew her. What denomination was Big Spring?? Was there a Baptist Church there? Of course a job teaching would probably not be necessarily denominational. She was born and raised here and married here. If you are refering to Big Springs, Meade Co, KY, there is a Baptist Church and a Methodist Church. This is the area where three counties meet, Meade, Hardin and Breck. I don't know about a school though!
