    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/YAB.2ACI/2740.1 Message Board Post: This Nancy Matthews was the daughter of William Matthews. Nancy's father and her brother, George Matthews, left Westmoreland County, Virginia, in 1794 for Kentucky. This departure has been documented. They resided on Pleasant Run which is located near to the Falls of Rough in what is now Grayson County, Kentucky. When they arrived, the area was part of Hardin County, Kentucky. William is thought to have died about 1805 because his name no longer appeared on the tax lists in 1805. Before 1805, consent for the marriages of his daughters was given by William and MARY Matthews. We can assume that Mary was the given name of William's wife and this Nancy Matthews' mother. Mary Matthews [her maiden surname remains unknown] was listed in the Grayson County, Kentucky, Federal Census for 1810 as a head of household with children. This census is more evidence that William Matthews had died sometime between about 1804 and 1810. Perhaps this data will assist your investigation. The information was supplied to me by a Breckinridge/Grayson County, Kentucky, Matthews family historian. His name is Wayne Meador. He does not communicate via this message board. All of his information was confirmed and documented by records in his possession. If you desire to know the nature of his records, I shall need to supply you with his electronic mail address so that you may contact him directly.
