    3. From a list my mother had in her library that supposedly came from Breckinridge County, KY Marriages From Bonds & Book #1, pages 1 to 54, May 1800 - August 1817 that were NOT compared with slips copied or checked with county records. I do NOT know where the list was generated from. OR who generated the typed list. It was in a notebook in my mother's library. CLARK, Benjamin bondsmen: Benj. CLARK 7 Wm. RICHEY August 17, 1807 looks like it might be the date bond was recorded. MATTHEWS, Nancy Eskridge Wm. MATTHEWS c. 8-16-1807 Bond: Aug. 7, 1807 Marriage: Aug. 23, 1807 By Wm. LOVE I am assuming Wm. MATTHEWS is either a father or relative of some kind. Some of the records actually have f. in front of the person's name to indicate was father. This one does not.

    3. FTM CD #229 Ky Marriages before 1850 has: Clarke, Benjamin m. Eskridge, Nancy, 17 Aug 1807, Breckinridge Co., KY Clark, Benjamin m. Mathews, Nancy, 17 Aug 1817, Breckinridge Co., KY. Because dates are similar I have to wonder did someone transcribe the data wrong or did 2 marriages become one in your mother's list. 3. Most likely, someone entered it into FTM wrong. The dates on many of those CDs can not be trusted. They were gotten from World Family Trees, and other Family Tree Maker submissions. I am believing that the transcription my mother has either came from microfilm, or from someone directly copying them from the courthouse. I have seen many wrong dates on the FTM CDs that can't be proven by the actual records. I am betting that 1807 was the right date. I have other marriage books for the later date, and don't see anything for Benjamin CLARK and Nancy listed on those dates.

    3. I just checked another book I have and it has basically the same transcription as I typed earlier today. Benjamin Clarke married Nancy Eskridge MATTHEWS, Bond, William Love. It is dated 8-17-1807. The difference is Bond is William LOVE, not by William Love. Since I didn't have anything that said what the transcription meant, I typed by, when it should have said he was the bondsman. Not sure about the marriage date of 8-23-1807 that was in the other. Perhaps that is when the minister's return was sent in. There were often mistakes made in these early records when it came to bond, marriage licenses, and marriage return dates.

    3. The earlier date may be when the application was made, the later may be the marriage date itself. Sometimes, at least in other areas I research, the ministers were kind of late sending in the marriage data. I've seen some that were returned a couple of years after the fact. I'd be reading along in the microfilm and suddenly come upon several for earlier years that were sent in by the same minister.
