You are correct that Benjamin B McCoy was born in 1794. I'm not sure what what his birth order was. I know a little something about Sarah and Elizabeth McCoy. There was a John and Daniel McCoy who lived in Campbell County, Va the same time that William and John lived in Bedford County, Va. Campbell County was formed from Bedford County. I had thought that John or Daniel might have been the father to William and John. After researching these Campbell County McCoys I discovered neither one of them could have been the father to William and John. They all appeared to be about the same age. Probably related, maybe cousins. Daniel McCoy's wife was named Hannah. They are witnesses in the Will of a John Phillips April 5, 1787 Campbell County, Va John McCoy ( Campbell County) died in 1788. His middle name was MAY. In his Will his wife was named as Martha Humpherys. This must have been a 2nd marriage because there is a marriage record for them in 1784 or 1785. In his Will he names his daughters as Sarah married to John Cobb and Elizabeth married to Jesse Cobb. ( I suspect these daughters were from another marriage.) Then he names 3 infant sons James, John, and Thomas ( probably children with wife Martha) in his Will. There are marriage records for these 3 infants ( late 1790's in Campbell County)but I don't have that info in front of me. The woman from OK who said her Grandmother Mary Angeline McCoy Girdner was related to my G Grandfather McCoy told me she remembers her grandmother saying that MAY, COBB, And RUNYONS were related to her grandmother. In Truda Williams book The McCoy's one of Old William's ( Randell's father) children married into the Runyons. I don't know if this is the same Runyon family that her grandmother talked about. I continue to research this. When you visit SLC if you have time I would love to meet you. I am usually at the library. My email is charles.l.klamm@usa.dupont.com Roberta McCoy-Klamm I have a picture of my G Grandfather John C McCoy. He was Benjamin's 3rd son with 2nd wife. He is very old in photo. I can bring you a copy if you collect McCoy photos.
