Hi all.... In the next newsletter of the Ancestral Trails Historical Society, there is going to be an updated listing of the GoodHope Cemetery in Custer. This listing was achieved through the hardwork of Adele Sharp and Fay Minter, in addition to listings found within the publications of two cemetery books from Virginia Hinton and Shirley Pile (published through the Breckinridge County Historical Society). It is through the generosity of Adele, Fay, those involved at the ATHS, as well as so many others, that the Archives was given permission to reproduce the list on the Archives site. There are 106 listings (105 from the new update) total now on the tombstone index listing for GoodHope, and on the cemetery transcription page. If anyone has any pictures, even if they were taken eons ago, of markers for individuals within this cemetery, I would love to correspond with you off list about getting hard copies or email copies to put on the site. With all that said, here's the recent additons/updates to the Breck. Co. GenWeb Archives site: Additions: The following records for 1848-1897 Big Spring Methodist Episcopal Church South; Louisville Conference Records 1856 (page 8) 1856-1857 ca. 1860 1865-1866 1867-1868 ca. 1871 ca. 1873 ca. 1874 ca. 1875-1876 ca. 1876 Updates: GoodHope Cemetery (Tombstone Photographs Index) GoodHope Cemetery (Transcriptions) Happy Hunting! There was supposed to be three copies of census, one for national, one for state and one for county. This was before copy machines and they hat to be handwritten. Often the original would have full name and copies just initials. Sometime copies just did not get made. You might find a copy at state or county level. Thanks for that Dave, I do have a copy of that marriage. I just wanted to find out were Jessie and her sister Minnie were living in 1890 as bythis time both of her parents had died. Her father Joseph Robert Hoyle came from England and was a Miller. Hi all... The final scanned images from the John Kasey Diary were placed on the GenWeb Archives page under the "History" section today. They consist of 3 pages of correspondence with a Lt. Cumpton, and 4 pages of correspondence with a Lt. Jones. The transcriptions of the pages are being done. Also, pictures from the Jean Martin Wallace collection (mainly of Big Spring and her various family pictures) were added to the photos section. With there being so many pictures now, I've redone the photo section on the main page to be a single link to the "Breckinridge County, Kentucky Area/People Photo Index". When you click on it, it will redirect you to a page with three groupings of pictures. One for Group/Family Group pictures, one for Individuals, and one for Places in Breckinridge County. Hopefully this will make it a little easier for everyone to find what they might be looking for. I've begun placing the transcriptions and pictures of the Big Spring Methodist Episcopal South Conference Church Records. These consist of several communities within the Conference area... Bewleyville, Stith Valley, and Big Spring.... off the top of my head. Keep watching over the coming days as more is transcribed and added. Happy Hunting!
