You have a vast knowledge concerning both the MILLER & BURCH families and I'll certainly try to fill in any gaps there might be ... but judging from what you already know, there won't be many of those! :)) Now ... as for my gg grandfather, Albert Connor MILLER ... According to our records, he was born in Perry Co, IN and not Breckinridge, KY. His second wife's name was Nancy Norton Basham. The information we have is sketchy, but we do have her birth year listed abt 1850 and their marriage date as 22 APR 1880, Breckinridge Co, KY. Nancy's daughter Elizabeth Basham was listed as Albert's stepdaughter in the 1880 census. My direct line is through Albert and Nancy's son, Allen Henry MILLER. I noticed you don't have any information about him other than his birth, so I'd like to provide a little more about him at this time even though our own information is limited ... at least it's a start! Also ... before I go any farther ... I'm fairly new to genealogy, so please forgive my lack of knowledge concerning proper genealogical writing order. I'll just do the best I can by writing what I know ... :) Allen Henry MILLER, b Jan 1867, Cloverport, Breckinridge Co, KY. He much preferred his name as Henry Allen and my own father only knew him by that name instead of the other way around. Allen Henry / Henry Allen passed away in 1944 and is buried in the McDonald Cemetery, Washington Co, AR. Allen Henry Miller and his second wife are buried together in this family cemetery. He's listed as Henry A Miller, 1866 - 1944 (perhaps they guessed at his birth year?) and his second wife's name is Mary E Miller, 1882 - 1950. The reason they are buried in a McDonald Family cemetery is due to their in-laws (Marshall FREDERICK and Rachell E MCDANIEL / MCDONALD) Rachell's brother, Abner G MCDONALD donated one acre of land in 1889 and became the founder of this cemetery that is still in use today! Here's a wonderful site I discoverd that led me to the information about the McDonald Cemetery in Washington Co, AR: http://www.angelfire.com/ar3/violetstar/index.html Most of this text is copied from their site: McDONALD CEMETERY Washington County, Arkansas This is a small rural cemetery. There is a metal fence surrounding the cemetery. A marker near the cemetery entrance reads: Elev. 1675 ft. Sec. 21 Tws. 14 R 31 W. One acre donated by Abnor G. MCDONALD, April 12, 1889. He is the brother to my g grandmother, Rachell MCDANIEL (her family used both surnames, McDonald and McDaniel) who married Marshal FREDERICK. Both are the parents of Rosie Ethel FREDERICK who married my grandfather, Joseph Sylvester Harrison MILLER, who is Henry Allen MILLER'S son. Both Marshall / Marshel FREDERICK and Rachell (McDaniel) FREDERIECK are buried in this cemetery along with Allen Henry / Henry Allen MILLER and his second wife, Mary E. MILLER. Directions to cemetery: To get there from Fayetteville, AR, take Highway 62 to Prairie Grove. Turn south on Washington County Road #28. Get on County Road 265 south, and then take County Road #29, which is a dirt road. Drive a few miles and then watch for a small white sign on the left reading "McDonald Cemetery". Turn at the sign, and the road will end at the cemetery. Let me backtrack a bit ... My g grandfather, Allen Henry MILLER, son of Albert Connor MILLER, was married twice: Wife #1: Mary E BURNETT, b 1866, AR, daughter of John D BURNETT and Sarah Sallee OLIVER. She and Allen Henry MILLER were married in AR, 1889 (or so we think) and the following children were born to this union: 1. Ellen MILLER, b abt OCT 1890, AR 2. Jimmy MILLER, b AR twin, died infant 3. Minnie MILLER, b AR twin, died infant 4.Joseph Sylvester Harrison MILLER (my grandfather) b 28 Apr, 1893, AR d, 25 NOV 1963, Las Cruces, NM and is buried in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, lot 144 space 2, Las Cruces, Dona Ana Co, NM. He married Rose Ethel Frederick in 1914 AR. She was born 28 OCT 1895 in Washington Co, AR, and is the daughter of Marshal FREDERICK and Rachel E. MCDANIEL. Rosie Ethel (Frederick) MILLER is buried next to my grandfather in space 1, lott 144 in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Las Cruces, Dona Ana Co, NM. She passed away 8 APR 1973. 5. Sarah MILLER, b abt June 1896, AR 6. Gladys MILLER, b abt July 1898, AR We don't exactly know when my g grandmother Mary E. (Burnett) MILLER passed away, but we feel she might have died in childbirth with Gladys or shortly thereafter ... The following 1900 census shows she had already passed away by that time. Allen Henry Miller was renting the farm he was working, so it is unlikely he would bury her there on a family plot ... so to date, we still do not know where the first Mary E Miller is buried. 1900 Washington County, Arkansas - Prairie Township - June 12, 1900 - page 211 267 - Miller, Henry, head; Jan 1867, age 33; widowed; KY IN KY; farmer/ renting farm #139 (we're not sure why MO is listed on this census, but on the following census, it is not) Ellen, dau; Oct 1890, age 9; AR KY MO Joseph, son; Apr 1893, age 7; AR KY MO Sarah, dau; Jun 1896, age 3; AR KY MO Gladys, dau; Jul? 1898, age 1; AR KY MO Here's another census after he remarried. He was already married to my grandmother (Rose Ethel FREDERICK) by that time (they married in 1914) and my father had already been born. Together they brought 5 strapping boys into the world: My father was the first born; 1. It seems I've been writing for the LONGEST time so I hope I haven't made any errors! Also ... I hope you'll find my information helpful and will add it to your own compiled genealogical research ... I'll gladly add any additional information I discover along the way ... and I hope you'll do the same ... :) THANKS AGAIN ... VJ Miller Brandon

Interesting to say the least. Grandma died April 28, 1911, Perhaps they called the area Pincheco and she actually might have been a part of the church at Cabot as I believe they were Baptist. She was married May 3, 1885 to Zachariah Jacob Carwile, in Breck Co, Ky, or so the family history is recorded. This would have been her 3rd marriage. I think there may be a marriage bond floating around somewhere. Anyway, part of her family (Limer) ended up in Breckinridge Co, around Cloverport/Hardinsburg area. Of course, there is always the possibility of another cemetery by that name too. But this gives me another area to explore.

Both of these deaths were within a decade of the turn of the 19th century to the 20th century. One of these persons was listed as "respectable." Where the community was exactly located was not reported. This lack of clarity about the location of Pincheco is the rule rather than an exception.
This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/YAB.2ACI/2730.1 Message Board Post: The area you mention as "Pinchico" was generally spelled in the lore of this area as Pincheco. There are more tales about Pincheco than any other geographic area in this region. No known buildings survive and whether there ever were any buildings other than living quarters is doubtful. I have never seen or heard of a "Pinchico Cemetery." I have walked the hills where this so-called community was alleged to have existed. There may have been people buried in Pinchico/Pincheco; whether any engraved stones exist for them is doubtful. Here are some of the better known notions concerning Pincheco. This place no longer exists as an area where people live. It was situated near to the ounty lines for Breckinridge, Hancock, and Ohio Counties. This region is filled with towering hills and deep ravines and is heavily laden with hardwood trees. The region is where three counties were "pinched together; thus, "Pinch-e-co." After the Civil War, it is alleged that gangs of guerilla fighters took to living in the woods in a region dubbed as Pincheco. The exact location of the county lines in this region was confused because of changes made by the State Legislature in 1831. Thus law officers of each county were not certain concerning where jurisdiction for each was located nor were they certain where they were when wandering into the backwoods. This state of affairs worked to the general benefit of the unlawful who lived in Pincheco, an area difficult to enter and about which there were questions concerning who ought provide law enforcement for it. Some thought the group that lived in Pincheco was what was then known as a "survivalist" group. I think this term implies a bunch of bandits who were making a living from robbing the citizens and farmers of this region and who had hoped the Civil War would not end since it provided cover for their unlawful activities. The closest known village to Pincheco was Cabot, a small hamlet and the nearest one to the county lines mentioned. Cabot was once known as Halesburg. Cabot exists and there are a few inhabitants and a Baptist Church and Cemetery there. Cabot is in Hancock County, Kentucky. A story was published about Pincheco in the Courier Journal newspaper of Louisville, Kentucky. The date of publication is unknown. And also, the reporter did not identify sources. Therefore, this essay also must be considered nothing more than "lore." Here is the essay in its entirety: "Some 12 miles south of Hawesville, Ky and where the County lines of Breckinridge and Hancock conjoin lies the neighborhood of Pincheco. The principle product of Pincheco, where fame extends throughout the state, is pugilists of the rough and tumble variety. Should you attend a dance ("Shin Dig" they call it) in Pincheco and escape being shot cut or knocked in the head, you may well claim that the days of miracles are still in full blast; and if you were present at one of the old time wood-choppings and failed to see someone receive a broken nose before the festivities ended, you might well have abundant reason for kicking against not having had a run for your money. So unsavory is the reputation of the neighborhood that you are told by its citizens, when inquiring of its location enough you might be right in the heart of it, that is a "mile or two" further on. Of course there are a number of solid citizens living in Pincheco - diamonds in the rough, as it were, but the poli! shing process to bring out the scintillating abilities would, however, be attended with the polisher's scalplock. The readers of the Courier Journal may be interested in the peculiar name of the neighborhood whose fame I humbly seek to imortalize in prosaic print. I will give its origin - a number of years ago there lived in Hancock Co., a young man of confidence in his ability as a fighter of the knock-down, drag out order. Next to a nip of maroon colored liquor, Holland loved nothing better than a fistic mix-up. When tanked up on booze, he just simply "eeked" for a fight. It also fell out that Holland made a trip to the coast on a flatboat, as the boat floated languidly on the broad bosom of the mighty Mississippi a happy inspiration came to him. He would utilize the golden opportunities of the voyage, and as a side line to the dollars he carried home, he would also carry a few scalplocks as fruits of his prowess in sunny southland. The first man Holland went up against was a little weysen-faced fellow at Point Chicot (pronounced Pon-she-co by the natives) who was a tough little rat. Holland did not collect his thoughts for a week after this encounter. He never did collect all the remnants of his head. He always thought that he fell into a kennel of a buldog or the lair of a tiger. He was permanently stupified. His companions greatly enjoyed his discomforts and gave to the neighborhood from which Holland came the name of Pincheco (Point Chicot)." So, 'over yonder' seems to be the most often given advice given by natives of the region when directions to Pincheco are sought. While this message will likely not resolve your inquiry, perhaps it will save you much time and effort in your search as the area known as Pincheco has never been discovered and remains a mystery of the region. Grandma must have fallen in with an unsavory lot!

Turn off Tick Ridge Rd. at Macedonia Baptist Church. Tick Ridge Rd. is also Breckinridge County Rte 992. Go south along a gravel road that runs alongside the church until the road drops over a hill. At the bottom of the hill, there is a small stream to ford. This is Whetstone Run. There is a drive to the left up a steep hill. Walk to the top of the hill and turn right into a field and walk about 100 yards. The Matthews/Burch Cemetery is on the right or west side of the field. It is located on private property. The Lawrence Cemetery cannot be found without a guide. I know where it is but cannot offer directions via this medium. It is in the "back yonder." There are only a few stones there and just a couple that are engraved. There are likely more graves there than stones.

Hi all... Been working hard on building pages and getting info on. Many thanks to Carolin in Oregon, she emailed that she would love to help out transcribing... so I sent her the beginning pages of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Minutes book to transcribe. And, I misstated that I had 30-40 wills... they are actually estate appraisements and listings. On the Cemetery Tombstone Project page, I've had to split it to two pages due to the volume of cemeteries photographed and online. The first page will cover the photographed cemeteries (partial and complete) starting with the letter "A" to the letter "F". The second page will cover the photographed cemeteries (partial and complete) starting with the letter "G" to the letter "Z". With adding the third of the Bruner Cemeteries, rather than give a separate page for each individual cemetery, four of the five Bruner Cemeteries are all listed on one page. So while you'll have to scroll down the page, Bruner Cem. #2, #3, #4, and #5 are listed together on the Cemetery Tombstone Project page. These are the updates/additions to the GenWeb archives site: Additions: Bright Whitworth Cemetery (complete) Bruner Cemetery #3 (complete) Civil War Grave Registration info (partial) Updates: Happy Hunting! Hey all... Thanks to Bobby Priest, and with his gracious consent, we have the beginnings of the copies of Civil War veteran graves in Kentucky. At present all I have are the Kentucky Union soldiers, but I will be getting the Confederate grave listings shortly. I compiled a list of the names of the individual soldiers, as well as the county/cemetery burial. After I figure out how to design the page, I'll be keying in the info, which at present is 142 Union soldiers of varying ranks. Most are buried in Breck. Co., but there are some from Hardin, Meade, Hancock, Grayson, Ohio, and Butler Co.'s. These listings will have the information off the actual grave marker, of which may or may not list complete information regarding service... as well as cemetery burial location, and birth/death information (where readable). Below is a listing of those names that will be added to a GenWeb Archives page and eventually will have links to the information, and at a later time some will have links to the actual grave marker picture. Each name is done as follows: Surname, First Name/Middle Initial or Name (County of Internment) Please note that in the parenthesis AFTER the name, is the name of the county that the veteran is BURIED... not from where he resided or was born. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Adkins, John T. Dana, Thanks for all you're doing for those of us researching in Breckinridge County. Frances in Georgia -----Original Message----- From: Dana Brown [mailto:brieskate@peoplepc.com] Sent: Thursday, April 13, 2006 7:56 PM To: KYBRECKI-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [KYBRECKI] GenWeb Archives future additions Hi all... I've been a little busy lately, and also have been in the process of changing Internet service providers. Wanted to email and let you all know some exciting things regarding the Breck. Co. GenWeb Archives site. I just returned from spending 5 days in Breck. Co. and came away with a lot of things to hopefully help everyone out. I was able to completely photograph Old Ivy Hill Cemetery, Garfield Cemetery, Bright Whitworth Cemetery, Bruner Cemetery #3, and Hensley-Dowell Cemetery. There were several others I wanted to complete but lack of time and an overabundance of sinus troubles kept me from doing anymore than what I did in the out of doors. I also was able to get the Garfield Baptist Church roll book (I believe it's 1900 or around that time frame), and the roll book entries for Mt. Zion Baptist Church for several years within the mid 1820's to the mid/late 1830's. This particular Mt. Zion Baptist Church started out in Breckinridge County, but when Hancock County was formed from western portions of Breck. Co., this church "suddenly" found it's self moved and in another county. I wasn't able to get right now, but will within the coming month or so, the rollbooks for CloverCreek! Baptist Church and Pisgah Baptist Church. I also received permission to post the marriage listings that the Rev. James Taylor did in Breck. Co. (these were abstracted by the late Daniel "Lynn" Bolin), and permission for something very special to place on the Archives site. I was able to meet Bobby Priest while we both were in Hardinsburg at the courthouse Archives, and he not only gave permission to use his Civil War veterans records he's compiled over the many years... but has said anything he has, is there to be used. In addition to all this, I was able to get about 30-40 original wills copied. All this to say, I am really going to need more help if anyone is interested. I have the rollbooks scanned and can send the pictures via email or snail mail (on CD), I can scan the Civil War pages as well as the Rev. Taylor's marriages and do with them as I can the rollbooks. I know myself and two other ladies are knee deep in the 1870 and 1880 census' and it'll be a bit before I can fully load the other items on if I have to transcribe and then key them in. If anyone is interested, you can contact me at the following email address: brieskate@peoplepc.com I hope you all are as excited as I am at all the new stuff coming in! Happy Hunting!
