    3. 27 April 1904. Morgan County News. Buford Pieratt, is a candidate for County Court Clerk. He is the son of Raney Pieratt, and present deputy Sheriff under S.M. Lykins, and has made an officer the people are proud of. He is a loyal Democrat, always at the wheel working, spending both time and money for the interest and success of his party. He is well qualified and a young man of good business qualities. Born to T.J. Daniel and wife, April 18, a (miller) boy. J.M. Testerman, who has been in Florida the past winter, will return about the 23rd of this month. H.B. Cottle departed this life on the 15th at his home near White Oak, Ky. He was 43 years of age. Caney. Grant Holliday has moved to Jackson, Ky., where he will engage in the hotel business. The Gault House, formerly the Central Hotel is now being kept by Rowland Minix, of Salyersville. The proprietor is a congenial and affable gentleman. S.M. Nickell, who will be the cashier of the Farmers' and Merchants Bank, which will begin business June 1, has moved into the property recently vacated by Grant Holliday. Cannel City. The White Oak Cannel Coal Company is having a proposed line of railroad surveyed from near Cannel City to White Oak. The deposits of the Morgan County Bank at Cannel City on the day it opened were about $13,000. ____________ From Knott County Historical Society's - A Century Ago This Week.
