Looking for information on Polly Ann Noble Kidd, wife of John Samuel Kidd. I believe that Polly may be the daughter of John Noble and Sarah Talby, but looking for confirmation of that suspicion. I would also like to learn when and where Polly and John died. According to the 1850 census entry for John Noble, Polly Noble was born about 1837-38 in Kentucky. The book "Reconstructed Marriage Records for Breathitt County, Kentucky, 1839-1873" by Margaret Millar Hayes lists the marriage of John Kidd (age 32) to Polly Ann Noble (age 19) on June 26, 1857. The entry notes that John's first wife was Perlina Rose (died March 10, 1854), and the author speculates that Polly Ann is probably the daughter of John and Sarah. The 1860 Breathitt County Kentucky census lists Samuel Noble (son of John and Sarah) as household number 336. John Kidd is listed five entries later, in household 341. Polly Kidd (presumably his wife) is listed as age 20 with birthplace as Virginia. The 1870 Wolfe County Kentucky census lists John and Sarah as household number 49. John Kidd is listed four entries earlier, in household 45. Polly A. Kidd (presumably his wife) is listed as age 31 with birthplace as Kentucky. Polly's close proximity to Samuel and John in these census entries suggests a relationship between them. The 1880 Wolfe County Kentucky census lists John Kidd in Precinct #5, household 4. Polly is not listed living in John's household. Did she die between 1870 and 1880, or did they divorce? John and Polly's four youngest children are listed living with John. The 1900 Wolfe County Kentucky census lists John Kidd living in the household of his son Lige (Elijah) in Holly, household #135. John is listed as age 70, and once again Polly is not listed with him. Any additional information on this family, especially confirmation of Polly' s parents and John and Polly's death information, would be greatly appreciated. Mike Burcham
