John was Clerk of the Court in Wood Co., now WVA, and donated land for the first county courthouse. He moved to Tennessee and then on to I forget where. He had daughters of the appropriate age for one of them to have been Charity (one was named Lydia). There were two other Stokeleys in Parkersburg, Cornelius and Samuel. Samuel was John's nephew, so Cornelius may have been John's brother, as these were the only Stokeley's in town. Does any of this seem reasonable?
