LONG ILLNESS FATAL TO JOE S. CAUDILL, 49 Former Jackson City School Superintendent Joe S. Caudill, 49 died Tuesday evening Feb. 25 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Lexington, where he had been a patient for five weeks. He had been ill for two years. He was born in Breathitt County, a son of Mrs. Mary Honn Caudill and the late James Caudill. He was a graduate of Morgan County High School, Lees College and Eastern University. He had served for 8 years as Superintendent of the Jackson Independent School System and for several years had been a representative of American Book Company. Mr. Caudill was a member of the Baptist Church and Breathitt Lodge No. 649, F. & A.M. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Maycel Bays Caudill, Jackson; five sisters, Mrs. Opal Howard, Grayson; Mrs. Martha Stacy, West Liberty; Helen Black, Frankfort; Pherbia Matthis, Ashland; and Dixie Brown, West Liberty; and one brother, Major James Caudill, Tampa, Florida.
