    2. Bill, you are talking about the section of Breathitt known as South Fork. There is a Portsmouth community on 1098, but I know of no Plymouth. What is the name of the person that was living there? 3. Sandy: Thanks for the reply, this has not been easy as you all know. My Father was John Ernest (Rocky) King born Frozen Creek October 24, 1919, died June 17, 1981, buried at Ft Leavenworth, KS, National Cemetery. His parents were Willie King born aprox. 1893 no further info., could be buried at "King's Branch". Mother was America Morris born December 12, 1898. I have photo of Willie and America's wedding day. Don't have parents of Willie but he had a brother named Jeff. Indications are that America's father was Achilles Morris, Mother Leah Jarrett. My father's siblings were: "Blance" King born aprox. 1934, died July 5, 1939 in the "Great Flood" of Frozen Creek, Shirley King, born aprox, 1936 drowned in same flood, Dora King, born 1914, died 1939, same flood. Another brother Sterling King, no info. My father's aunt Lottie Gillespie, no info except she lived at "King's Hollar" in Frozen Creek. My father's 1/2 sister was Gladys Campbell and 1/2 brother Don Campbell. Not sure about America Morris and "Hyden" Campbell being the parents. Gladys died on October 15, 1991 and is buried in Martinsville, Indiana along with Charles Hunter and America Williams. She married Charles Hunter August 5, 1961. America also married Cecil Gross. My father also had a cousin named Mitchell McIntyre, no sure of spelling of last name. I hope some of this clicks, some where. 3. Charlie, These names aren't ringing a bell. I have a bunch of John Kings and several Charles and even a Willie--but I can't find this configuration. Maybe I just don't have enough info to connect us yet. All of my Kings connect back to Moses King through his son Fleming and his son Ally. Do any of those names ring any bells? 3. The son Joseph Lee Back died January 29, 1935, not 1972. My father was his oldest son and was left with the responsibility for the younger children and his mother. Joseph Lee probably had tuberculosis. One of the younger children had only one memory of Joseph Lee, standing on his tiptoes and looking in the casket and seeing "that flaming red hair." His nickname was Copperhead. Because Mary Elizabeth "Ollie" married her first cousin, Nelson McIntosh, I have additional information about her which I'll add below. Also, Edna Back married Buck Blevins and lived in Boone County, Kentucky. The only child whose name I know is Velma. I had also found a birth record in a transcription by Frances Ingmire for a Robert Lee Back born 11/14/1915 in Breathitt County, son of "Dorsha" Back, father unknown. Does anyone know more about him? 3. Thank you so much Stephen. I knew that you were related, spoke to you briefly a couple of years ago, and had planned to talk to you the last time I was down but it appeared that you were involved in an inventory and I know that's no time to be interrupted, especially when you're new on the job. I really appreciate your information. It fills in some gaps for me and when I have time to compare I think I will have a little more information to share with you. So it seems as though Rebecca did not go to Oklahoma. Did he take all of the younger children with him? Lazarus was already married and Joseph Lee married about that time. Some cousins and I attempted to talk to Lee Back, son of Lazarus and Mary, last summer but either he was confused and just didn't intend to tell what he knew. My father was like that, he didn't like to talk about the scandals. I have a draw knife that William James "Buck" took with him to Oklahoma and then brought back with him. Apparently he went with the intention of working. I wanted to write up a nice "pioneering" story to put in a display case with the draw knife but this is going to take some real creative writing now that I know the real reason he went. SEEKING any info on OFFIE KING & wife Elizabeth Blevins last known to be living in 1910 with their grandson Andy Shouse. Andy named a son Offa Shouse b.1878. Son Charles King b.1859 married Mary Short, daughter of William Short and Millie Corum. I have a whole history on the above names but desire any "tidbits"about Offie I can get! He was a scout for the Confederacy in the Civil War and he was born 1831 in N.C. died in Breathitt by 1920 as there was no sign of him in the 1920 census or of grandson Andy Shouse. OFFIE had a brother, Butler King who wed Margaret CAUDIL children William and Elizabeth King, this family disappears after 1860 census to....???? Thanks.....contact me direct, please...
