Gary, William Johnson Whitaker is buried at the Frazier-Taylor Cemetery approximately one half mile up Highway 30 East across from the Department of Transportation District 10 Garage. His wife Elizabeth Smith Whitaker is there also. Hope this helps, Stephen D. Bowling
Are you talking about the one on the right just past the Salt Dome and the Campton Inn? On the flat ground? (relatively speaking) I don't know the name but I'd be interested in finding out too. I've been to Mt. Caramel (aka Lawson Cemetery) outside of Jackson. I was told where you leave the main road was part of the flood. But I still don't know exactly where Frozen Creek was located..........or if people still live there. You'll have to bare with me since I'm from Michigan I don't know all the local history. Thanks. I am looking for Walter and Cockrell on Troublesome Creek. My problem is they left before 1824. Dee Owens

Judy, O.K. you caught me. It is Portsmouth not Plymouth. I haven't any idea how I got on that tangent. My grandfather owned the lumber mill in Portsmouth. His name was George Martin Rogers. His wife is Rausie (sic) Hanks Horton. My father is August Horton Rogers, called Horton all his life was born in Portsmouth in 1905. He bought the lumber mill from C.C. Hanks on 1 Jan 1892. He may have operated it for 25 years or so. Thanks, Bill

Yes, there is a South Fork in Lee County, KY. In Beattyville, on Hwy 11, you turn beside the Peoples Exchange Bank onto the South Fork Rd. It will take you to Booneville, KY, Owsley County. Sandy in 1900 Charles and family were living in the Crawford District and this is not near South Fork. From looking at the families around him I would think that he was living near Lee Co. South Fork Road is about 3 miles North of Jackson and after turning on the road you would be east of Jackson. The South Fork road will take you into Knott Co. Charlie, I'm sorry to say that I have a bunch of those names in my database but none of them quite connect. I know I've seen other Kings that are connected in the Frozen Creek area but of course I can't find them right now. I had a couple Shirley Kings, and a couple of Sterlings and we are definitely connected to the Campbells and a few McIntoshs. I'll bet you we have a connection but just can't find it yet. I've even heard about the flood on Frozen Creek. I'll print out your info and keep it and if I come across info I'll forward it to you. Maybe we'll find that connection after some more digging!
