    1. [KYBREATH-L] BEGLEY, HURST FAMILIES
    2. Cheryl Baldt
    3. I'm looking for information on the BEGLEY family from Elkatawa, Breathitt Co. In the 1910 census, this is what I have: Felix Begley, Head of household, Age 56 Manerva Begley, Wife, Age 56 Nannie Begley, Daughter, Age 23 Vina Jewell Begley, Daughter, Age 22 Aura Begley, Daughter, Age 20 William Begley, Son, Age 16 Felix died in 1911 In the 1920 census, there is another daughter Lorraine married to Jason Little. Lorraine and Aura were twins It also lists Pauline Begley (Age 3) as granddaughter to Manerva She was daughter of Nannie Begley I'm also looking for information on Elijah HURST family of Elkatawa: 1910 census for Elijah Hurst: Elijah Hurst, Head of household, age 36 Nannie Hurst, wife, age 33 Edgar Hurst, son, age 13 Clayton Hurst, son, age 11 Robert Hurst, son, age 9 Abbie Hurst, daughter, age 6 Gertrude Hurst, daughter, age 4 Thelma Hurst, daughter, age 1 1/2 - Elijah was not listed on 1920 census. Nannie was listed as head of household - James "Edgar" was not listed on 1920 census. Records that I have show that he married Myrtle Little in 1919 On the 1930 census, Nannie Hurst was remarried to Joseph Newland. She apparently was a Post Master for a short time, and operated a large farm in Elkatawa. She also was a school teacher in Breathitt county. The 1930 census also lists under their household a daughter Pauline, who according to birth certificates that I have, was actually a daughter to James "Edgar" and was the daughter of Nannie Begley. Any information anyone might have on any of this would be helpful. Cheryl Baldt --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Finance: Get your refund fast by filing online

    1. Re: [KYBREATH-L] Frozen Creek
    2. Frozen covers a large area of Breathitt Co. It is made up of many communities. I am sure that there is a main Frozen Creek, but most folks refer to a large area being Frozen. The road # going thru Frozen is 1812. At the time of the flood it would have been 15 North. I think that the flood was around the community called Keck. There is a Blanton Bridge fork of Frozen and I think there is a community called Davis. I do not know the Frozen area that well. Judy

    1. Re: [KYBREATH-L] Portmouth?????
    2. Bill, I would say that Portsmouth is about 10 miles from Jackson. In another post I stated that the South Fork road going to Portsmouth was about 3 miles North of Jackson, Sorry the road is 3 miles south of Jackson. Take HWY 15 south out of Jackson going toward Hazard and in about 3 miles or less you come to the south fork road. 3. There is a Davis, it is near Vancleve. It is off of 358 which is off of 1812. It is way back there. 1812 seems to go through the whole county from what I have seen of it. It is a pretty road to drive down. rdgab@kih.net wrote:Frozen covers a large area of Breathitt Co. It is made up of many communities. 3. Isn't Frozen around Hwy 15 area? When I went to Watts Funeral Home the director called where the Dunn Cemetery is Frozen. The Dunn Cemetery is off 205 heading towards Lee City if you are coming from Vancleve and the cemetery is on Mudlick Church road (a dirt lane) <babeckstrom@westshore.edu> wrote:I've been to Mt. But I still don't know exactly where Frozen Creek was located..........or if people still live there. You'll have to bare with me since I'm from Michigan I don't know all the local history. Thanks. 1. Re: [KYBREATH-L] Jonce Whitaker
    2. Stephen, Could there have been a mistake by the stone mason on the death date that says 1906, and it may have been 1915? He certainly could not have been passed on in 1905 and still have signatures in 1910 at the courts or clerks offices. William Johnson Whitaker, an interesting character in his own right, always signed his name on countless deeds and lawsuits as W. J. Whitaker and in a few place listed his name at William J. Whitaker, but he was always called "Jonce.") Now his death date is another point of debate- stone says 1905 but he is on court records in 1910. I have worked for years on the Clemons, Smith, and Whitaker lines. Thanks, Stephen D. Bowling >>

    3. Thanks Stephen! Thats exactly the one I'm talking about. Do you have Elizabeth's parents? I have always thought she was a Clemons, daughter of Francis. I also noted that you put William in front of his name on an earlier post. Do you have anymore on that? 3. Bertha, My Charles Yeary married Malissa Bryant. He was her first husband but I'm not sure she was his first wife. He was born about Sept. of 1872 and died before 1906 if the info I have is correct. Malissa and Charles had 4 kids, Pearl, Edgar Boon, Franklin Pierce, and Hugh. In 1900 Charles and Malissa were living in Breathitt County in the Crawford Precinct in household 174 and at the time they only had Pearl and Edgar Boon. Looks like we might be a generation off here? Since I don't know my Charles' parents it's hard to say. See if you have any matches in what I just gave you. I'd really like more info on them.
