    3. Thanks Tammy, I checked it out. Folks the photos were taken in 1940 and are charming to say the least. Here's how the site works; first pull up the address below then select COLLECTION FINDER then page down the next page almost to the bottom and select Prints and Photos Next will appear a search box; type in BREATHITT then 255 photos will be available for veiwing! I suggest selecting Gallery View several photos will appear at once along with caption info. Happy hunting! 3. Does anyone on the list have any information on a Frank Davis that sat on the Circuit Court before being appointed to the Federal Bench in Knoxville, Tennessee? Supposedly, Frank retired in the late 1930s or early 1940s and moved from Knoxville to the Muncie, Indiana area where he joined his brother. Frank's brother was living in Muncy and owned a large grocery store when Frank retired. His brother was Joseph Davis. The family as I know it was: 1. Asa Davis; b. 1828 in KY or VA; m. 1855 in VA + Ursala Inman; b. abt. 1825 in SC 2. Amanda Davis; b. 1856 2.Thomas Asa Davis; b. 24 Dec 1857 in Floyd county, KY.; m. 23 Oct 1877 in Whitesburg, Letcher, KY; d. 17 Nov 1931 in Pound, Wise, VA + Sarah Ann Cook; b. 17 Apr 1859 in Letcher county, KY; d. 9 Dec 1946 in Pound, Wise, VA (Thomas Asa and Sarah Ann were my great grandparents and I have extensive data on them and their children.) 2. Willy Davis; d. in Ottawah, OH 2.Francis Davis 2.Frank Davis 2. Joe Davis 2. 3. Hello again Molly, Yes it seems, from what I can find out, that John Chapman had a child with Hannah Frazier out of wedlock. It appears that they lived next to each other. This research thing is all new to me but I wanted to start finding out about my Frazier family. Do you happen to know anything about this? I would welcome any and all information that you might have. If you can send it in a GEDCOM file I have Family Tree Maker. Also information on the Chapmans would be great. Thank you, Chuck

    3. Hi Timothy, After looking at the 's's again, I tend to agree with you. Wonder if he could have wondered into Tenn.? I found a Shadrack Manes listed as FPC Have also found my Brewer's had a lot of Cherokee in them, which would have made them FPC, if they were listed. Sneedville, where my Brewer's ended up, was a Melungeon town. I just found some history on it on the Mel. site.....................WAnda

    3. Hi Wanda - Collective opinion is that it is "Manes," and that names (Charity Manes, John Holland) were written by James Kash (i.e. those are not their signatures, just written names by Mr. Kash). If you look at the last line ("Jas Kash"), the letter "J" in "Jas Kash" and "John Holland" are the same. The letter "s" in "Jas" and "Manes" are the same. In looking throughout the entire record, Mr. Kash writes the letter "s" in at least three distinct ways. So much for good penmanship..... :-) I just noticed that I have not updated the transcription of the record (there are a few minor changes/corrections)..... 2. Timothy J. Barron
    3. Just for clarity, the 1854 death record that I am trying to get a copy of is actually for John Hollon/Holland Sr. (who married Charity). Apparrently, this record lists his name as "John D. Hollon" (not to be confused with his grandson with the middle initial). On my site (click on "Family"), you will find extensive information on the Hollon/Holland family. Please contact me offline, as I don't have you listed as one of the 11,000 descendants! -- Timothy J. The blank space in front of the email address is why anything you write to the person who is spreading the virus comes back to you as undeliverable. If you want to privately alert the sender that they are passing this virus take off that blank in front of the email address. 3. Looking for any information on John Lovely s/o Thomas Lovely of Breathitt County. There was a John Lovely (widower) 25 s/o Tom Lovely who married Emma Taylor (single) 16 d/o Sam Taylor married in Wolfe County, Nov. 28, 1929. John and Emma had three known children born in Wolfe County and one born in Perry County. I think this John died 1939 in Perry County for his widow remarried in Breathitt County 1940 to a Tester. Now in 1922 Breathitt a Johnie Nix (single) 23 s/o Sarah J. Nix and TOM LOVELY md. Jane Mullins (single) 16 d/o Dick and Rosan Millins. I believe this is the same John Lovely who may have been illeg and in 1929 took the Lovely name. The death certificate of John Lovely who died 1939 Perry did not have the parents listed on his death certificate. Any information on any of the above people would be appreciated. Thanks, Carole
