Marge .... I have not yet made it to the Lee County Courthouse since moving here this past October. I am only 10 minutes away. If you can share the specifics of what you are looking for; it may be the motivation I need to get over there. I have been meaning to go (but because of the weather the past few days) but; have had to postpone for one reason or another.... Hi all, I am trying locate the parents of Canzalie Carpenter b. 1871. She first married John M Smith in breathitt co. in 1889. She had two children with John - Victoria b. 4-1892 & Lilly Belle b. 1893. Lilly Belle married Edward Fraley. Canzalie next married Alfred Barnett December 15, 1891 in breathitt co. I know of 2 children born to this marriage - Aster b. 1895 (my line) & Brownlow b. 1909. Canzalie died January 23, 1912 in Breathitt County. I don't have anything on John Staniford, but found marriage record for Rufus Hill. On the Lee County Marriage Records, I find Rufus Hill marrying for the 2nd time to Rachel Angel (her second marriage too), on 03 Aug 1899. Rufus is 37, a farmer from North Carolina. His parents are Joel Hill and Arrena Moore out of NC. I wonder if this is the same Rufus Hill being mentioned in the stabbing.
