It's possible the following could direct you. Breathitt County Historical & Genealogical Society c/o Nancy Herald 121 Turner Drive Jackson, KY 41339 Otherwise a call to the court house might get it. Various department at the court house phone numbers might be on the internet. I have used these. I know it is very frustrating not being able to get in tough with the library. John Combs and his family lived in Wayne Co. VA/WV near where Lemuel and his wife and family lived from about l850 to l870 when it iseems both families moved to Lawrence Co Ohio. I know that Harrison Combs could not be Lemuel's nephew on Lemuel's wife's side since I have her family information. I am looking for any info on the following children of ROBERT CURT SWEENEY and his 3 wives. I also would like any info I can get on the wives. Curt was born July 3, 1887 in Clifty, Ky. Curt was married to UNKNOWN before 1905. They weren't married long. Curt and Unknown had a son:JOHN born 1905 and died 1930. John married ETHEL PENCE and they a son: RAY. Hi Breathitt Co, I'm looking for a Harrison & Elvira Combs in 1900 Breathitt Co. He was born 1863 in Perry Co but died 1937 in Breathitt. He was listed in 1910 Breathitt as divorced. Louise Hatmaker, 79, Publisher/Journalist, Dies Louise Hatmaker, 79, was a pioneer woman journalist in Appalachia, starting her career as a reporter for the Hazard Herald Newspaper.  She died on Sunday in Hazard.  Hatmaker was the former editor, publisher, and owner of the Jackson Times and Beattyville Enterprise, and was inducted into the Kentucky Journalism Hall of Fame earlier this year.  She was proud of her her Kentucky mountain heritage, and traced her lineage through her mother, Zada Baker Combs Bolton, to John Combs, an Englishman who crossed the Atlantic on the Magnolia and landed at Jamestown in 1619; since 1735, six generations of Combses have claimed Eastern Kentucky as home, and produced such notables as Governor Bert Combs and the immortal Earle Combs, who played the outfield for the New York Yankees with a 12 year batting average of .325. Louise Hatmaker is survived by one daughter - Cynthia Segers of Spring, TX., one brother - Newell Bolton of Hilton Head, S.C., and two grandchildren. Visitation will take place from 6 until 8 pm Friday at the Engle Walker Funeral Home in Hazard.  The funeral will be held at the First Baptist Church on Saturday.
