Hi: I just subscribed to your list. At this time, I just want to say that I'm searching the Whelan surname (the slave women women mentioned in the will below). Here is a copy of a will that I have: WILL OF JOHN WHELAN I John Whelan of the town of Danville KY do make and publish this as my last will and Testament. 1st I devise and bequeath to my sister Jane Whelan the whole of my estate real personal and mixed to be by her in fee(?) simple except that she have only an estate for and during her own life in my two slaves women Bell or Isabel and Kitty or Catherine and their descendants. 2nd On the death of my said sister emancipate and forever set free said slaves Bell and Kitty and their descendants and bequeath to said Bell and Kitty each the sum of three thousand dollars to be by each of them held as separate estate and free from the control of any husband they may have. 3rd I nominate and appoint Ormond Beatty the executor of this my will and request that no security be requested from heirs. In testimony whereof I sign and seal this paper this 5th day of December 1863. John Whelan
Hi, Kimberly, My name is Sherri Hall, and among my many "hats" that I wear, I am the list "mom", the message board administrator, the Boyle County archivist and the webmistress for the Boyle County, KY KYGenWeb site. Would you be interested/willing to have this will posted on the Boyle County website and/or the Boyle County USGenWeb archives? Also, any other family information (including photos) you would like to share would be most welcome. There is a fairly new Surname Registry that I have started, where you can list the names you are researching so others can find you. If you would like to have your names listed, just let me know and I'll get them added.
