New post to the Boyle County, KY Message Board: Subject: Re: Boyle Historical Society Author : Jerry Moore Date : 13 Jul 2001 3:55 AM Link : http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=message&r=&p=fh.localities.northam.usa.states.kentucky.counties.boyle&m=924.931.952.1 I am sending this message using a different format, as there was a problem with the previous format not linking correctly. Please let me know if there are still problems. Sherri
New post to the Boyle County, KY message boards added on 12 July 2001. Subject is NORTONS. The post can be found at http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=message&r=rw&p=localities.northam.usa. states.kentucky.counties.boyle&m=1103 (This is a 2-line URL, so be sure that you get the entire thing.) If you want to reply to this board post, please do it from the board, and not through this mail list, as your reply will not be threaded to the original post if you reply here. Things have changed slightly, with the boards, and you are no longer required to register with a username and password to search, post to, or reply to the boards. Registering with a username and password (you can use your old Ancestry userid and password if you have one) if you want to change your email address (which is part of what makes up your profile). Updating your profile will update the email address on all of your board posts (including all old ones). My apologies, also, for an error that I discovered last night on the Boyle County website. The link to the cemeteries page was not working. I have it fixed (at least I think I do), but please let me know if you are still having trouble with it. Sherri
Hi, everyone. Just wanted to let you know a couple of things about the Boyle County website and message boards. The location of the message boards has changed. The new (at least for now) URL is <http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=localities.northam.usa.s tates.kentucky.counties.boyle> (remove the "<"s before you copy and paste). You do not need to have a user ID and/or login if you are only reading the messages. You will, however, need one to post a new message or to reply to one of the posted messages. Some additional information can be found by clicking on the "Links and Announcements" link. All of the message boards are combined into one now, much different that what we have all been used to. You can select the different classifications using the drop-down menu. The default class is query. (Query is not in the drop down list, to further confuse us all.) Please use the different classifications, as you can actually search by classification. When you are posting a new message, or responding to a previous message, Please enter only surnames which are tied to the specific message, not every surname that you are researching. Now, when entering surnames, you will separate them with a comma and space. Do NOT hit enter before listing all of the surnames, as the message will be posted as soon as you hit "ENTER", whether you are done or not. At this point, the message boards are not gatewayed to the mail list. As I get notification that new messages are posted, I will send a note to the list. As for the website, cemetery listings have been moved off of the main page, onto a page of their own. The cemeteries that are in black are ones that I have found referenced in one of several places, but I do not have any additional information on them. (Does anyone want to help by contributing burial information on any of them?) The linked cemeteries have burial information accessible through the links. If you know of additional cemeteries that I do not have listed, or if you find errors, please feel free to let me know. This is a cooperative effort to expand the information available to Boyle County researchers. Anyone that has photos, family histories, or other data they would like to share, please let me know. Do you have any Boyle County resource books or CDs that you can do lookups from? We are always looking for help. Have a great week, everyone. Sherri Hall

If someone died in Danville, KY in 1989 where would be the likely place to find their obit? A relative of mine, Julian Gentry died in 1989 and I wanted to check his obit for likely relatives. He is a link between the generations that I really need. Just a note to forewarn you if you are trying to find something that was previously posted on any GenConnect board at Rootsweb. The boards have been "revamped", and while they don't have all of the bugs worked out yet, all of the previous posts are still there, but they have been combined to one single board. You will be required to select a user name and password to access the board info, but everything on the boards is free. If you previously or currently have an Ancestry username, you can use that same one if you want to. The good thing about the user name and password, is that it will update any posts that you have made (to any GenConnect board, not just Boyle County) by creating an active link back to you. If you change ISPs or e-mail addresses, you can very easily go in and update them. The single update to your "profile" will update all of the entries on all boards. For more info, when you get to the board, click on the ADMIN INFO link. I have added some additional information there. I am also in the process of adding info to the website, so please bear with me as I get it updated. If you would like the info you added to the GenConnect board system added directly to the county website or to the Boyle County Archives so it is easier to find, just let me know and I'll be happy to do so. I CANNOT arbitrarily go in and copy any post from a previous GenConnect board to the Archives or the county website as that is considered copyright infringement. I can, however, copy the info if I have the request/permission of the ORIGINAL submitter. I am also interested in knowing what you think of the new boards. Sherri
These are really good sites for Census avalibility maps http://www.segenealogy.com/sgo03.htm http://www.segenealogy.com/sgo03_ky.htm http://www.segenealogy.com/kentucky/ky_censusmap.htm And County Formation Maps http://www.segenealogy.com/kentucky/ky_map.htm Brent
I would like to begin by introducing myself. My name is Sherri Hall. I am the new County Coordinator for the Boyle County KYGenWeb site. The website has been moved, and is now located at Rootsweb. The exact address is: http://www.rootsweb.com/~kyboyle While I do not live in Boyle County, my father was born and raised there. While he and his immediate family no longer reside in Boyle County, we do have other family still in the area. (I'm not too far away, in Hardin County.) I invite everyone to come visit the new site, and let me know what you think, and what you would like to see here. I invite all of you, if possible, to become involved in this project. This could mean something different to everyone. Do you have Boyle County resources that you can volunteer to do lookups from? Do you have Boyle County documents that you have or can transcribe? Are there old pictures that you have that you would like to share? Are you near, or do you have access to cemetery information that you could share? These are just a few ideas. Any other suggestions are most welcome. Happy searching, Sherri Hall ldrbelties@earthlink.net

Hi David, I just took a look at your referenced website below. *Most impressive* - you've done a terrific job of organization, the only chalenge now is to attract volunteers to fill those categories. I wish you the greatest of success, will visit often and eagerly for new addition. You've done all researchers a fine service, if we but participate. Afraid I don't know a great deal of the various counties, the fiew I DO know in KY and LA appear to be accurate. Warmest regards, spred the word for and wide - this is a WORTHY side Barb Terhune David wrote: > I am developing a website for Kentucky Counties and > need someone that is familiar with this counties information to take a look > and see if anything needs to be corrected or added.
