Forwarded by the list admin. I have asked Michele to give us some names to work with, as others may connect to her family. Just a note to let you know that I've made several updates to the Boyle County website over the past few days. The births and deaths pages have been updated, and I have begun adding marriage records. You can always keep track of what has been added by checking the "What's New" page at http://www.rootsweb.com/~kyboyle/whatsnew.html All of the updates have been uploaded, but it may be tomorrow before all of the names are picked up in the site search engine. I have been contemplating adding a photo gallery to the website, to share photos of Boyle County (past and present), as well as individuals with a connection to Boyle County. If you would be interested in sharing photos (or old maps, school yearbooks, etc.), please let me know. Thanks, Sherri Souleyrette Hall ldrbelties@earthlink.net Boyle County website http://www.rootsweb.com/~kyboyle

I am going to TRY to explain something that I have added to the Boyle County, KY site that is confusing some, so please bear with me. I am in the process of adding Boyle County Births to the website. On each of the pages, in addition to the data that I have added, there is a link to "Search the KY Birth Index at Vital Search". Vital Search is a network, which offers some of its data for free, and there is a premium membership that allows you to access additional searches for some of its databases. A large number of the databases that are loaded at Vital Search are from western states, most predominately CA. They have added the entire KY Birth index for the years 1911-2000, as well as the marriages from about 1973-2000, recent divorces and the KY Death index as well. ALL of the KY databases and searches are free. I have linked the Boyle County site direct to the KY Birth index, but when the page comes up, there is a very prominent advertisement for Net Detective. THIS IS ONLY AN ADVERTISEMENT, AND JOINING NET DETECTIVE HAS NO BEARING ON YOUR ACCESSING THE DATA. To start a search, you just need to click on the "Begin Search/Reset" link in the lower right-hand corner of the screen. The search screen will then come up and you can search by as many of the fields as desired. The "%" is a wildcard, so if you are only wanting to search by the first letter of the child's last name that begins with "N", you would enter "N%" (with no quotes) in the surname line. I agree, the advertisements are annoying, but it's up to you to decide how annoying. Again, all of the info is free. If you do decide to search the database, there are numerous names and dates that are mis-spelled, I know for a fact, from finding many of my own family members. There are also lots children that were apparently not named when the birth certificate was filed, and the name is listed as the father's name with a number 1 or 2. You may later find another certificate (with another file number) where the child was actually named. I have also found several others that had duplicate certificates, possibly to correct mis-spelled names, or they may not have realized the original had been filed. If you do find someone that you want to order a birth certificate on, the volume and certificate number listed should be included in your request, as that is how they are filed. I hope this has answered some of the questions about Vital Search. If you have any other questions, please let me know. Sorry, everyone. I failed to include the website address for the Boyle County website. The URL is http://www.rootsweb.com/~kyboyle At any time, if you want to find out what has been added/changed, check the "What's New" link. I try to keep it updated as I update the site. Just a note to let you know that I have finished adding the Boyle County births reported for the year 1912. Most of the information that I have added is from the Vital Records index, spellings, dates, etc. is exactly as listed (to the best of my typing ability), so that if you want to order a copy of the birth certificate, hopefully they'll be able to find the record for you. I have the entire index, so if you need the certificate number, just let me know. Besides the index, I have no further information on any of the individuals. (If you find someone you connect to, feel free to send along information on them to add to the website to share with other researchers.) The records are listed by the child's name, but the practice was to use the father's name with "#1" after it if the child had not been named when the birth certificate was filed. There are several cases of two entries that are obviously the same child (similar or identical birthdate, same mother), but I listed both because they had different certificate numbers. (I think some were just because they couldn't remember filing or couldn't find the original record). The mother's maiden name is also listed with the child's information, hopefully this will help to sort them. To search by mother's name, you'll have to use the site search engine. The site has been "re-spidered", so all of the records should be found when using it (I hope). If you find any errors, additions or corrections to be made, please let me know and I'll get them taken care of. Thanks, Sherri
HI, The names you gave are the same in my family but dates are different. I have several Williams and Elliss in my family. But who they married are different from yours. Do you have any other info? I am looking for anything on my great great grandfather and great grandfather. According to his death certificate William PRESTON was born in May 1852 in Boyle Co., it lists his parents as Ellis PRESTON & Lucy BIGGS or BRIGGS. William later moved to the Lancaster Dix River Pike area in Garrard Co. He died Jul 31, 1922. William was married to Mary Adams. They had 10 children, some of which are John Wesley (my grandfather), James Ellis, Liga, Frank, Thomas, Ella, Nannie Belle, and Lee. Lee lived and died in Danville. I think he and his wife had a flower shop. Any information would be greatly appreciated, this is one of my brick walls.
