    1. [KYBOYD] Layne Family in Boyd County
    2. Thomas Griesan
    3. Hello! I am researching the Layne family that was in Boyd County from about 1870 to 1900. William F. Layne and Susan M. Stewart married in Lawrence County, Ohio in about 1851. William was born about 1826, and Susan was born about 1832. They had the following children, all born in Ohio: John F. Layne, Martha C.J. "Mattie" Layne, Medora Layne, Julia B. Layne, James Perry Layne, Arcilla Layne, George Layne, Zurilda "Rilla" Layne, and Emma Layne. The last child, Emma, was born about 1869. The Layne family appears in Boyd County in the census 1870, 1880, and 1900. I can't find them in the 1910 census. I found a listing for a William F. Layne in Ashland Cemetery (in Boyd County) through the online search provided by the Boyd County Library website. There are no dates on the listing, but there is a listing for William F. Layne, Ohio Calvary, Corporal, Company H, 5th Ohio Calvary. I was unaware that William served during the Civil War, but it's not unlikely either. A number of his brothers-in-law from the Stewart side served too. I do NOT see a listing for Susan (Stewart) Layne in the Ashland Cemetery. Does anyone have a listing for the Ashland Cemetery that could double-check to see if there are dates on William F. Layne's stone, or if there is a stone there for Susan Layne? Thanks! I would also love to hear from anyone else researching this line. - Jean Griesan
