So if you made a Picture/Scan Request from the Ashland College Yearbook, PLEASE, resend your page/picture request and I will do it this week. I will talk more about scan requests next week after I get got up on a few things. Have a great week, Mark __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Y! Messenger - Communicate in real time. Teresa Klaiber has almost 70 Cemeteries Listed on her Website at: http://www.deliverancefarm.com/cemeteries.htm ------------------- Also, the Boyd County Library is always adding to their site at: http://www.thebookplace.org/pages/gene.htm ------------------- The (Ashland) Independent hasn't released the New Version of the History of Ashland, but they still are selling the great photographic album at: http://www.dailyindependent.com/display_ads/history_promo.txt ------------------- Have a great weekend, Mark __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? 1. New for the Month/Year
    2. Mark Meinhart
    3. Boyd Researchers, The Boyd Webpage has had a few changes for this month. More than meets the eyes sometimes. Judy and Teresa have submitted or redone all of the Catlettsburg 1900 Census. Judy has been setting up an Excel sheet for quicker access on these and it has been working great. She also did it for the Ashland Wards, too. I uploaded around 30 pictures this month, which I didn't know I did really. I just upload whenever I get a new batch. I just backed-up the Boyd Webpage and couldn't figure out why it grew so much over the last 3 months. The main reason was the Newspaper Section which takes up a lot of space on some of the articles. I started a Year ago taking over the Webpage and did my first back-up of the original Webpage. A year ago the size of the Webpage was 24MB, 1,164 files, 202 Folders. Today we have 282MB, 3,674 files, in 249 Folders. I do back up my work every 3 months and copies are being sent to Teresa and Judy for preservation. My scanner still cannot scan B&W pictures because of the descreening issue with Windows XP. So it will be after Christmas before I get into that again. I do have a lot of new yearbooks and I will be glad to do any look-ups, but scans will have to wait-sorry. For those who know me by now I will be working on Christmas lights through Thanksgiving so things will remain slow from me until then. Have a great week, Mark __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail - You care about security. So do we. http://promotions.yahoo.com/new_mail

Surnames: Vance Marcum Bryant Burch Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/XAB.2ACI/127.737.740.1.1 Message Board Post: I am trying to figure out what happened to Bessie Vance who was born in 1905. She is in this family in the 1910 census, was 2 or 3 when William married Laura Johnson. In 1933 her daughter Maxine who was 10 and living with the Bryants, was told that she died of TB at a near by sanaterium. Maxine has always wondered if that was realy true. The last record I have of Bessie Vance, is the 1930 Census, where she is listed as 27 and single. Maxine thinks that perhaps she went to live near one of her siblings; Amelia or Dennie. Does anyone know what realy happened to Bessie?

KY Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/XAB.2ACI/2114.1 Message Board Post: I'm related to, and doing research for Maxine Vance, who is the daughter of the Bessie Vance that is listed in the 1910 Boyd County Census, as 5 years old. Maxine was born to 18 year old Bessie Vance in Cincinatti, Ohio at a home for un-wed mothers. Maxine's father was a middle aged, Revrand, who was married and had at least 5 other children at that time. Maxine was raised by the David Bryant family in Kentucky. In 1933, when Maxine was 10 years old she was told that her mother Bessie Vance had died of TB in a nearby Sanateriam. I have alot of information on this family, but vary little on Bessie Vance b. 1905 Ashland, KY. I am looking for any proof of death in 1933.

    2. I am hoping to connect with descendents of Helen CLICK (1877-1964). She was married to Alonzo N. MCKENZIE (1874-1912) and then Thomas J. JONES (b. 1875-d. unknown). Helen's mother, Elizabeth PRATER (1853-1932), married my gr-grandfather, Joseph MITCHELL (1854-1929). I am hoping that perhaps someone in this line may have a picture of my gr-grandfather. Thank you. Rebecca (Please forgive if you receive this message twice, as they were residents of both Greenup and Boyd counties and so I am submitting this message to both lists. Thank you.)

    1. Portico Scans/New Pictures Coming
    2. Mark Meinhart
    3. Boyd Researchers, Last week I posted the Portico 1943 Class Members and the Faculty. I will be doing the 1946 Class this week also. There is one problem I am having at this time. I tried to scan the pictures on my scanner which worked fine on previous versions of Microsoft 2000 and before. It does not work well with Windows XP at this time for black & white. I have downloaded some additional software, but I'm not expecting it to work. I planned to get a Scanner/Copier/Printer for Christmas, but I may try and talk my wife into it sooner. For those who made requests, this will be delayed for now. I will keep you informed on what is going on. Good news is that I received pictures from my cousin that I had him save from my Aunt's collection last May, I think. He turned over most of them and these are one of a kind pictures, as you will see soon enough, if I get my scanner going. Most are from the 40's, some are earlier, and a few family pictures that may or may not show up on the webpage. My Uncle Ralph Evick was an amateur photographer and took pictures that I'm sure you will enjoy. Will post the Portico 1946 names starting tomorrow. Have a great day! ===== Hope you find what you are looking for :) ^ ^ . .
