Ashland - Business Section Pictures Building 1 ca 1953 I'm pretty sure this is the building that housed the Ashland Police Department and City Jail. I think the jail was on the top floor and maybe top two floors. The building is [ was? ] located on either 17th or 18th St. My grandfather Clark was jailer there for several years and an uncle by marriage Jim Barney retired as a captain from the police dept. The Ashland Daily Independent [ name at that time ] occupied a building that I think was next to Wurts Bros Dodge Hope my memory is correct Bill Horne

KY. The 1870 census shows a 2 yr old Alifair in the household and the 1880 census shows her as Allifair, age 12. I'm not 100 % sure this is the same Alifair but I think so. I just mainly want to give you the later info. There is some info. on David's parents and his brother's family in "The History of Lawrence Co. KY." One of the compilers of the bk. is related to the Derifield family. David's father is buried over in Wayne Co. WV. The info. refers to a Derifield family history done by Wm. I am currently do a genealogy research for my fathers side of the family him being a Davis and his mother was Laura Jarrel of Boyd county Ky born in Wayne county WV. (dob 1892) her father was Martin Jarrell (dob 1854) if any one knows of information regarding this family please share information with me. Elizabeth Newberry in 1897 Tennessee 1, b. Ky m. Lewis Fuller By 1900 they had already moved back to Dickenson Co. VA. I guess Shade had died in Boyd Co. KY. Leona must have married there. I don't know of any other younger kids. There could have been. If anyone has access to the courthouse in Boyd Co. to do a marriage lookup on Leona Compton please do.
