He was an engineer on the C & O Railroad for over 50 years. His children were Cecil, Vernon and my father Leo Dent. His father George W. Dent (1850-1/5/1934) was married to Nancy Rucker. His children's names were Pearl, Jack Edna and my grandfather George. Many of the Dents are buried in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashland, KY. If any of this is significant to your husband, please let me know. Thank you Judy Dent O'Connor

My husband's family has a George Washington Dent, born @ 1835 in Indiana. It appears, however, that his father and/or mother were born in KY. Could this possibly be a family name, I wonder? It's worth a shot. The mother appears to be named Rachel. We don't know the father's name yet. Other children are Walter (possibly James Walter), Mandy, and John C. If these names attach in any way to yours... please let us know. Good luck, and thanks.

    2. Mark Meinhart
    3. Boyd Researchers, I have uploaded on the Webpage Reported Births for Boyd County for 1911-1920. I will be uploading 1921-1932 during the next week. This list is only as good as the resource and I have found some errors, including my Father's Birth. I will be glad to correct any errors that you may find in this list. If you cannot find a birth, let me try from the original record I have. I will be offering lookups for the Whole State of KY soon, keep an eye on the Webpage for updates on that. It will be a submittal form to make it easier for me. You can find the Births under the Vitals at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~kyboyd/Vitals/vitals.htm and/or http://www.rootsweb.com/~kyboyd/ and press the Vitals Icon on the bottom of the Webpage. Check out the latest items added also. Have Fun, Mark __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? New and Improved Yahoo! Mail - 100MB free storage! http://promotions.yahoo.com/new_mail

Surnames: Foster, Cyrus, Evans Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/XAB.2ACI/2392 Message Board Post: In 1880, my James C. Foster (born ca 1842-1846) was in Putnam Co. WV with his wife Mary Catherine Cyrus and two daughters: Margaret "Maggie" (from his first marriage to Dora Davis) 12, and Evalena, 5. He was a voice teacher. In 1884, JC's daughter Margaret marries Joseph Evans in Boyd Co. KY. The marriage took place at the home of J.C.Foster (presumably her father, as he signed permission). In 1892, JC's daughter Evalena "Eva", married in Kanawha Co. to Charles Anderson In 1900 & 1910, Eva, her husband and her mother Mary (Cyrus) Foster are living in Kanawha. Mary died in 1917. I've not located James in WV but perhaps he was in KY? Could someone check a 1900 index and see if James (or J.C.) Foster is in Boyd in 1900? Ultimately I'd like a check of death records, land records, wills or estates, etc. to learn more of when James moved to Boyd Co. and perhaps died there (or even remarried)... but at this point, I'll take what I can get on my "mystery" guy :) Many thanks!
