Johnson b. 1848 - d. 1923, buried: Stafford Cem. - wife: Mary A. b. 1854 - d. 1932 these are all on FAG and here's census 1920 Stafford co. KS - ED 228, SH 8A, pg 122 William H. 79 b. KY Mary A. 65 b. IN 1930 Stafford co. KS Census - don't have ED Mary A. 75 b. IN; Widowed - Head of household. I believe there are other connections intertwined in this family, such as the Marvins, Henry md Julia and Lucretta md William Marvin. OH, I told you wrong on the Rebecca Shephard I believe I wrote on that 1850 census, it should be Rebecca Stephens. Which makes more sense for this family, I found Lucretta Johnson Marvin (I believe a sister) still in Clark co. IL, who died in 1931, Decatur, Macon co. IL (living with dtr), death certificate states mother, Mary Stephens, father, William Johnson. Boone co. Ky Marriage Records list: Polly Stephens md William Johnson 14/Jan/1819 by Absalom Graves, bondsman: John Stephens - MR BK A, pg 45. I believe she passes before 1850 census, but her mother or grandmother, must be living with the family. Also, yes cousins did marry cousins until 1900, when they passed a law about that. That's how my husband's family came to be. Trouble I am having is that I can't find any info online for Kansas. Maybe if you can get some of the obits, might be able to find out if these guys are connected. I have found that Henry's brother Richard lives with him in 1910 after his wife dies. And He lived with Henry & Julia in Macon co. IL in 1870. Now we could be chasing the wrong family, so don't put it down as fact yet, but if it doesn't work for your James Thomas, it probably will work for Henry S. Johnson and Aurelia Crouch dtr Nona Mae. His name was William Thomas Johnson, in 1920 he is shown living with his mother Alice and again in 1925 census of Stafford Kansas , he is shown as W.T. Johnson, again, living with mother Alice. He is listed as a common laborer, His WWI DRAFT Registration lists his mother Alice Johnson as next of kin. Still unsure of these names you have shown. E JOHNSON, no, I am not. I was told this in an email and when I asked for confirmation I never heard back..so I moved on. Interesting however, because one reason I am trying to find out so much here is that there is a double Johnson connection and I don't think it is a coincidence, older family says distant cousins may have married... you mention my Henry S Johnson,(1832-1917) shown in a memorial on FAG,he married Aurelia Crouch (1859-1933) and they had one daughter Nona Marie Johnson (1878-1971) , here is the interesting part, i.e cousins maybe? She married Charles Edward Johnson (1872-1935). As for your research, Ive not had enough time to look into what you have found, so I cant comment much more than what I said already. Many thanks for your response and help Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I saw your posting and I saw the find-a-grave site, where you also have Henry S. Johnson listed. Now my question is - are you sure that C.E. is the father of whom your looking for? I have the 1850 Census for Boone co. Ky (and I went back and looked up James Thomas' census from 1880 - 1910). He states father born in MD, I went by this. Here's an 1850 Boone co. Ky Census - pg 137 William S. or L. Johnson 50 b. MD Sarah I or J 24 b. KY Henry 18, Irvin 16, Mary E. 13, William 10, Richard 8, Lucretia 5, James T or F. 5/12 all b. KY Also: Rebecca Sheppard 100 b. PA living with them. 1860 Clark co. IL - pg 51 William S. 60 b. MD Lucinda 46 b. KY William H. 21, Richard 18, Lucretia 15, James 11 all b. KY Taylor 5 b. IL IL State Marriages Lucetta md William Marvin on 17/Sep/1865 - Clark co. 1870 Clark co. IL - shows her and William along with Taylor Johnson 15. Now in 1900 & 1910 - Stafford, KS you have = William, Richard and James in the same place, I believe these are brothers. Only one I find in 1920 Stafford, KS is William H. 79 b. KY this could be your "Tip". I also think that there is a son, George listed in Boone co. KY 1850 - age 29, he's md to an Olive (Nee GREGORY)21, John W. 3, Mary C. 1 all b. Ky He is in 1860 Anderson, Clark co. IL. Boone co. Ky Marriages George Johnson md Olive Gregory on 22/Jun/1846 I'll keep looking if you think this could be yours.
