At an early age he became familiar with the best methods of tilling the soil and after the fathers demise assisted his mother in the management of the farm, which was one of the finest in this section of the state. He sold the homestead in 1913, and the famous Raceland track is located on land formerly owned by the Fisher family. In 1913 Mr. Fisher was appointed postmaster of Russell and ably discharged the duties of that office, which he filled for ten years. Since 1923 he has been identified with the First National Bank of Russell. He was elected vice president and was afterward called to the presidency, and during 1923-24 acted as cashier of the bank, of which he is now a director. With a thorough knowledge of the complex details of modern finance, he labored systematically and effectively to promote the growth of the institution. He is now living largely retired in the enjoyment of a competence ample for his requirements.
