SEELEY - Seeley 11511 Kentucky Genealogy and Biography Volume II Battle Perrin Kniffin, 3rd ed., 1886. (Warren Co). E. B. SEELEY, Warren County, was born May 3, 1825, in Lexington, Ky., and is of Scotch parentage. When but eight years old, he lost his father and mother (in 1833) by that fell disease, cholera. He was sent to school until the age of twelve and was then apprenticed to the tailors trade. In 1846 he came to Bowling Green, where he carried on the business to which he had been brought up, for a number of years. He commenced steam-boating in 1857 as clerk, and continued in that capacity until the beginning of the late civil war in 1861. In the struggle between the North and the South, he espoused the cause of the latter. After the war he was one of three gentlemen to obtain a charter from the Legislature organizing and incorporating the Green and Barren River Navigation Company, of which he is now secretary and treasurer, and has successfully managed the affairs of the company to the present time. He resides near the city of Bowling Green, where he owns a comfortable farm and a pleasant home. In religion he is an agnostic; he is liberal and charitable and without a known enemy in the world.
