Longview Precinct. ZEBEDEE P. DENNIS was born July 14, 1841, in Montgomery County, Tenn., where he was reared, married and resided until 1877, when he came to Christian County, Ky., and settled on the farm Pond Home, where he now resides. His father, Marmaduke O. Dennis, was born in Clarksville, Tenn., in 1802, the first white child born in that city, and there lived to the time of his death, which occurred in 1854. He was a son of Zebedee Dennis, a native of North Carolina, a soldier of the Revolutionary war, and one of the first settlers of Clarksville, Tenn., where he died in about 1840. Elizabeth (Bailey) Dennis, the mother of our subject, was born in Montgomery County, Tenn., and died there in 1844. Zebedee P. Dennis was her only child; he was educated at Brookville, Md., and spent three years at the University of Virginia. On the 16th of August, 1859, he married Miss Ellen, daughter of Thomas F. Pettus, of Montgomery County, Tenn., to whom have been born Marmakuke, John H., Martha E., Zebedee P., Jr., Edward H., Oscar, Ellen and Stephen T.
