Kelly, I think that you are doing a great job. I would like to see a listing of the old post offices, like Blanche Post Office, and so on, and the names of the postmasters and postmistresses that they had, and where the post offices were located. Maybe something too about the small churches that are mostly all gone now, like at Arjay and Cary and Blanche, and something about the ministers who preached in them. Some of the greatest people in our nation came from those small churches and schools and communities. Maybe not great in the sense of being president or anything like that, but great in the gifts that they gave to their children and to our nation, like being strong and loyal and being able to persevere. Also they gave us the gifts of music and strong religious beliefs and the very heritage that all of us share who come from Bell County. I know that it might be tough to do, but maybe something too about the construction and mining that has been done that has changed Bell County so much over the years, like at Log Mountain. When I go down there now, it is so different that I can't find where my grandmother and great grandmother lived there on Log Mountain any more. Thanks, Charlotte Miller
Hi Charlotte, Thanks for the ideas, I am hoping to work with Elva Morgan on the coal mines and miners in the very near future. As for the churches we have a good start on those. You can locate them at this URL http://www.rootsweb.com/~kybell/Churches/index.htm And the post offices have a small start at this URL http://www.rootsweb.com/~kybell/Post_Offices/index.htm We are in need of more information on those.
