Hi Joyce, I remember Ward Chapel being built in the mid-fifties to late fifties. I graduated from Bell Co. High School in 1962 and left thereafter for UK at Lexington, and I remember the school being there a while before then. My husband remembered passing the school to scouting hikes he took in late fifties also, before we started high school. (I was born and raised at the Forks of Straight Creek in Bell County.) I also remember the name Clyde Taylor from the school system. Are you related to Charles C. Taylor who taught at Bell Co. HS in early sixties? I think he was Librarian and lived at Calloway. I also know that at some point during his tenure there, the author, Lillian BROUGHTON CREECH was one of the teachers who was employed at this school. Lillian has authored "Creech Lineage" and "Kentucky Lineage" about many, many of my ancestors on both sides of my family. The fact Lillian BROUGHTON CREECH was there was told to me by her.
