RESPONSE: It is good to familiarize yourself with the county formations in KY and the formation of the KY counties from VA. There are links to this information on several of the southeastern Co. main web sites such as Harlan, Bell and I also think Knox Co. In any case, Bell was not formed iuntil1868 from parts of Knox and Harlan Co. (So people who were in either Harlan or Knox Co. often show up later on in Bell Co.) Harlan Co. was formed in 1819 from part of Knox Co. Knox Co. was formed in abt. 1800 and I forget exactly from which counties. But, this is all the same family. Joyce C.
