She was born Oct. 27, 1932, in Fork Ridge, Tenn., a daughter of the late Log and Polly Ann Sowders. She is survived by her husband, Ralph Heatherly, two sons and daughter-in- laws, David and Sue Heatherly, Dennis and Debbie Heatherly, one daughter, Joan King, all of Michigan; one brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Billie Sowders, Taylor, Mich; six sisters, Naomi Brendel, Springfield, Ohio, Helen Noah, Lafayette, Ind., Retha and T.J. Ayers, Cumberland Gap, Tenn., Jayette and Earl Gibson, Speedwell, Tenn., Pauline Mason, Middlesboro, Barbara Sowders, Speedwell, Tenn., eight grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Martenson Funeral Home in Trenton, Mich. Burial was in the Michigan Memorial Cemetery in Trenton. She was born March 20,1908, in Middlesboro, the fourth daughter of the late Robert Doyle and Emma Stewert George. She was the widow of Calvin Dallas of Lynch Ky. She was an alumni of Lincoln High School in Middlesboro, and attended Knoxville College for two years and received a certificate in Elementary Education. She was also an Alumni of Kentucky State University, Frankfort, Ky., where she receive an A.B degree. She was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, the Teachers Retirement System of Kentucky, a the Retired Teachers Association, and Pilgrim Rest, Chapter #95 of Benham, Lynch in Harlan County Ky. She is survived by one brother, Warren S. George, Cleveland, Ohio,; special nephew, Lovella Henderson, Detroit, Mich.; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Shumate Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Walter Garlington officiating. Music will be provided by the church choir. FREDERICKTOWN - Herman Knuckles, 53, passed away Friday, Aug. 16, 2002. Born Jan. 10, 1949, in Pineville, a son of Leonard and Joyce (Wilson) Knuckles. He was a 1967 graduate of Bell County High School. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Brenda Knuckles; daughters, Melissa (Kevin) Briggs, Karen (Scott) Russell, and Amy (Shane) Berger; two grandchildren and one step-granddaughter; brothers Walter (Roberta) Knuckles, Tom (Alice) Knuckles, Robert (Marcia) Knuckles, Mike (Anita) Knuckles; an aunt, Hazel Woods of Pineville; and a host of other relatives and friends. HARROGATE, Tenn. - Cleo Johnson Yeary, 82, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002, at her home. She was born April 5, 1920, in Middlesboro, a daughter of the late John Harvey Johnson and Martha Daniels Johnson. She was a member of Abundant Life Fellowship Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Yeary. Survivors include her two sisters, Esther Standifer, Middlesboro, and Mary Ruth Brantley, Maryville, Tenn.; three daughters, Margaret Harms, Palm Desert, Calif., Wilma Yeary, Harrogate, and Pat Kloetsch, Atlanta, Ga.; four sons, James F. Yeary Jr., San Antonio, Texas, Larry Yeary, Middlesboro, Mike Yeary, Harrogate, and Steve Yeary, Barbourville, Ky.; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday at Creech Funeral Home with the Revs. Macel Ely and W.B. Bingham II presiding. Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Green Hills Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be friends of the family. MIDDLESBORO - David Phelps, 41, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002, at Middlesboro Appalachian Regional Hospital. He was born Dec. 19, 1961, in Tazewell, Tenn., a son of Hobart and Lois Phelps. Survivors include his mother, Lois Phelps, Middlesboro, father, Hobart Phelps, Harrogate, Tenn.; one son, David Allen Phelps, Middlesboro; four brothers, Chuck Phelps, Don Phelps, James Phelps, and Kenneth Phelps, all of Middlesboro; four sisters, Mary Ann Phelps, Middlesboro, Darlene Houston, Tazewell, Tenn., Brenda Smith, Middlesboro, Betty Lou Phelps, Pineville; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Creech Funeral Home with the Rev. Hobart Dail Sowders presiding. Music will be provided by Bo May and Howard Warwick.
