    3. RESPONSE: Thomas CARROLL would not have been born in Bell Co. at Middlesboro in 1865 because the county was not created until 1867 with the 1870 being their first Fed. Census. The area probably later on became Bell Co. Bell was formed from parts of Knox Co. and Harlan Co. On the 1870 Bell Co., there is this listing but no Thomas. Dwelling 131-123 CARROL, William H., 46, b. KY This same family appears on the 1880 but still there is no Thomas. I've just checked the 1870 Harlan Co. and there were no CARROLLs. There are CARROLLS in the 1870 Knox Co. but there is no William or Lillian or similiar and no Thomas. I do not see a marriage for Elizabeth Ann GIBBS and Thomas CARROLL in Bell Co. I do not see Thomas or Elizabeth CARROLL on the 1900 Bell Co. Perhaps you need to recheck your information on where they were.
