Joyce, Sorry, I have had computer problems. My FTW file is missing right now. The James Cox I am researching was known as Jimmie Cox of Laurel Hill m Mary Thompson. He was the brother of my grandfather, Robert (Bobbie) Cox, married to Emma Miracle at one time I believeand is buried in the Emma? Miracle cemetery on Brownies Creek. They were from Brownies Creek. Father was Robert Cox. On Grandfather Bobbies death cert. it says mother unknown. I was hoping to find Jimmie's death cert to see what his mothers name was and I could know Bobbies mother. I have been told that the older Bobby Cox was married 7 times. Not sure this is true, but if so it makes for a fun hunt for all the wives. Bobbie and Jimmie had 1 other brother Thomas Cox. He went to the service and never came back here to live. Sorry I havn't more information for you Rutha

Hey everyone - First, Merry Christmas to each and every one of you. And best luck in your searches and research in the new year. Secondly....anyone in the area who gets the Middlesboro Daily News check out the Lifestyles section today. I put a big ad in hoping to get some leads on my grandmother. I've exhausted all other leads so I thought it would be a good idea right now...more people will be with their families & might pass it around and talk about it. <Fingers crossed> Most of you have already heard the story but I still think it's sort of neat that my listbuddies might be seeing "me" in print! Best Regards from South Texas (where they say it might actually SNOW!!) -Michelle

Thank you for the look up for Arthur, Not sure why his marriage isnt there, For anyone who might know this family, I would love to find out more on them Arthur is the son of Benjamin Smith d. 1936 Bell County and Sarah Ayers d. abt 1958 buried in Claiborne County, TN Benjamin's brother Moses Smith is my great grandfather. Arthur is found in the 1930 Bell County census with his wife and some of his kids, not sure if he anymore than what is listed or not.. Thank you again Carol Smith Turner
RESPONSE: I have checked the Bell Co. Marriage Index and did not locate the marriage you are looking for. There were several Arthur SMITHs listed as follows: 8-17-1918 SMITH, Arthur to CARMACK, Sallie, Book 13, Page 490 10-12-1929 SMITH , Arthur to TINDELL, Boonie, Book 51, Page 41 11-26-1932 SMITH, Arthur to SIMPSON, Ollie, Book 73, Page 75 2-17-1934 SMITH, Arthur to HUDDLESTON, Rosa, Book 84, Page 22 That would be a fairly common name so perhaps none of these other Arthur SMITHS are yours. Joyce Taylor Collins La Palma, CA p.s. In the Claiborne Co., TN marriages, I also found this Arthur SMITH: 1923, Book D, Page 377 SMITH, Arthur to HUNDLY, Verna 1927, Book D-11, Page 64 SMITH, Arthur to MAYS, Ruth > Hello > I am hoping some wonderful person has access to Bell County marriages for > years 1910-? > I am looking for a marriage for a Arthur Smith b abt 1901 married a > Mary/Marie. > He was married sometime between 1910-1920. > I am pretty sure it would be Bell County > If anyone could do a lookup for me I would be so grateful, > Thanks, > Carol Turner >

In looking over my family file, I found some information on Wm Francis "France" Marion Wilson, b 1836, Ella Rae Wilson Coleman's grandfather whom she believed was a brother to BA Wilson Rice and a son of Unknown Wilson and Lydia Sanders. Several years ago, another descendant sent me information that France's parents are Issac Hamptom and Julie F Wilson, b 1814 in NC and d Jan 13, 1839 in Grainger Co (now Claiborne Co) TN. He didn't share w/ me what proof, if any, he has. I think he did mention talk in the family. There's often some truth in such stories. Lydia Sanders was born about 1786 in NC. Isaac S Wilson is listed as a brother to BA Wilson Rice in the 1860 Harlan Co census. He was born in 1815 in NC and his fifteen year old daughter Lydia Wilson is, also, recorded as living in the household. BA Wilson Rice was born in 1819 in Grainger Co, now Claiborne Co, TN in 1819. BA Wilson Rice and his third wife, Lutissia Tabitha "Bitha" Miller, also, named a daughter Lydia, by the way. The above-mentioned Julie Wilson is of an age to have possibly been a sister to Issac S Wilson and BA Wilson Rice, and would have been 22 years old when France was born. Of course, children were born that far apart in those days, but there's Lydia's marriage to John Robert Rice to consider. It seems that Lydia and her Wilson husband went back and forth between NC and Grainger Co (now Claiborne Co) TN. All in all, it seems that Unknown Wilson, b VA and Lydia Sanders, b NC had children: 1- possibly Julie F Wilson, b 1814 in NC; 2- Isaac Sanders Wilson, b 1815 in NC; and 3- Benjamin Ajax Wilson Rice b 1819 in TN. Wm "France" Francis Marion Wilson is possibly a son of Isaac Hampton and Julie F Wilson. If anyone has any information on this family, it would be wonderful to hear from them. Has any documentation been found concerning BA's step-father John Robert Rice? All I've ever found on him has been the Militia record where he served during the War of 1812 with Stephen Rice. Seth Botts, Thomas Botts were also in that same unit, Claiborne County, TN. I am also looking for ANY info on a Thomas Rice who may also have been in that area of Grainger/Claiborne/Hawkins counties in the period between 1793 and 1810. He was in Lee County, VA in 1793 with Abraham Rice, and I think also Russell and Washington Counties, VA a few years before that.
