RESPONSE: It is good to familiarize yourself with the county formations in KY and the formation of the KY counties from VA. In any case, Bell was not formed iuntil1868 from parts of Knox and Harlan Co. (So people who were in either Harlan or Knox Co. often show up later on in Bell Co.) All children seem to have been born in Bell Co.; however, a couple of the births were not registered until long after and there may have been one death of a child. Victory is recorded as: SHOCHELFORD, Lizzie V. b. 4-25-1915 in Bell Co. to Mary OWENS (bet you would never have thought of that spelling for SHACKLEFORD (ha ha) SHACKLEFORD, Elzonia b. 5-7-1934 in Bell Co. to Mary OWENS The one I thought was Ervin C. turns out to be recorded as: SHACKLEFORD, Ewing Clifford b. 12-21-1921 in Bell Co. to Mary K. Hello, I looked up birth records on my cd and I found that Katie Woolum and Millard Smith had a daughter, Mary S. Smith, born on Sept. 5, 1939, in Bell County, Ky., so she was a baby when her mother died. Charlotte
