He was born October 18, 1923, in Middlesboro, Ky., the son of Robert B. Johns and Bartie Ellen Marcum Johns. He was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army. Mr. Johns has been a resident of Oak Ridge since 1943, and was a member of the '43 Club. He is a member of Central Baptist Church, where he was active with the 'Go-Getters' and he was also a member of the Oak Ridge Lions Club. In earlier years, he also served as a Boy Scout leader for many years. He enjoyed photography and painting in oils - particularly landscapes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 sisters and 3 brothers. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lillian Lucille Griffith Johns; sons, Gary Edward Johns of Powell, and Dr. Donald R. Johns of Boston, Mass., and granddaughter, Nicole Elise Johns of Boston, Mass., and several nieces and nephews.
