Thanks Diane, I have a love for Bell Co that I can't explain and if it weren't for the generous people who research here our web site would be a hum drum kind of place. The Bell Co researchers are the people responsible for making the site as wonderful as it is and I am so thankful to you all. Excuse me for "butting in" on your conversation but it is people like Ray Moore and Kelly Blizzard who make some of these KY sites such a great place. Ray is an example of someone who is generously sharing his photos and memories and Kelly is always on the lookout for anything that would enhance the web site for its users. Thanks to both of you! Diane R.
Hi Ray, Thank you, I will certainly credit you with sharing them on the site and appreciate your generosity. Please feel free to send anything that relates to Bell County, it's families or it's history. We love adding new things to the site and the researchers appreciate it. Over the last couple of days I have received almost 500 cemetery photo's that are being posted to the cemetery section. Barb and I are always interested in adding to the site =) Thanks so much !! Yes, the photo brings back memories. I even got my husband to stop there after we were married. As an aside, my brother-in-law who was a first-rate bulldozer man did the prelandscaping work on the area over the tunnel. When I look at it, I think how difficult it must have been to do that. It looks very dangerous to me. Thank you Kay for the link to the Middlesboro photos. I had been wanting a picture of the First Baptist Church in Pineville, and it was there. I loved going to church there in the late 40's. Elsie
Thanks Ray. Charlotte
Hello, I need a marriage look-up for Rose HOOKER who married a HOBBS in Clay County or Bell County, Ky. She had a daughter, Vera HOBBS in Bell County, Ky., Feb. 20, 1920. Thank you, Charlotte Miller
Rutha http://www.geocities.com/bellhistorical/ Check the links. As for the dates. I think they have changed so I would suggest that you call before making the trip to visit. I am not doing much at this time because of illness of my Mother in Law. Some of you might remember her, Lucile Adams. YES that is only one L. (smile) She gets upset if I spell it with two. She taught first grade at East End School. She also taught at the new West End School. She is 93 and is getting better after breaking her hip. Please keep her in your prayers. http://www.middlesborohistoricalsociety.com/Photo%20Album.html This is a great site for pictures of the area. It will even allow you to add your old pictures and a note on the old ones there. Kay
I think it is because of the road that goes around Pineville now & not through the town. I travel that way a lot & have family in Pineville but do have to go to Middlesboro to get a room. Darlene
Thank you very much for the responses. When I asked Mama if it could have been Capitoe (Tappy Toe) and Pack Saddle (Pea Sally) she said "Well honey that's what I said." I guess we have a true generation (geographical) gap. I still like her an awful lot though. chuckle Bette Sutton-Rodey __________ Home Pages http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/r/o/d/Bette-J-Rodey/

DMR. You are right it was Saddle. I was wrong. And I have never left the mountains of Bell CO.
