Hello Ray The only wallins Creek that I have ever heard of is in Harlan Co., KY. William
Lord have mercy !! Mama and I do communicate even if it takes the help of modern day technology. I have been trying to get her to get a computer but she says if the lord intended for her to have a computer he would have taught her to have patience. Now I guess that's kind of apples and oranges BUT, I do not argue with Mama. I am almost ...well, really over the hill....... but she still has whoopin' rights. Seriously, I do think the stories of our parents are a very important part of our research. Bette, My husband has heard of being stung by a bug called a packsaddle that attacks people picking corn. He says that they can sting the fire out of a person, and that he's not seen one since he was a little boy. We grow corn every year, so we're either lucky or they've died out somewhat. I live in Bell Co. Would your mom have been referring to Tiprell, which is a community/area just outside of Cumberland Gap? It is in TN, though. How wonderful that your mom is sharing her past experiences w/ you! Thanks Ray, You know I was just reading some articles about Mr. Mayes a couple of weeks ago. I had never heard of him before that time and his story is very interesting. Hi Ray, I don't think I have seen that site but if you'll send the URL I'll add it. I would also like to mention that I would be interested in adding photo's from neighboring places. I don't limit the site to only Bell stuff because many of our families moved around the area and usually to neighboring counties. A few of my families are found in Claiborne, TN. When your ready you can email the pictures or whatever else you want to share to this address. [email protected] Thanks a million !!
