Need help finding the family of William C Bowling. This is what I know. William married a Laura Elizabeth Taylor born May 28 1907 in VA. Daughter of Berry and Nancy ?? Taylor. Her mother Nancy Taylor married again to a ?? Barker Laura Elizabeth Taylor first married a James Matt Hoskins from Pineville Bell Co KY. They had 7 children. After James died Laura married William Bowling they had a daughter Sheila Gail Bowling May 2 1950 in Tetterville a small town in Harlan Co Kentucky. Laura was older than William and I don't know how much older. William may have had the nickname "Red". They were not married long and divorced when the child was about 8 months old. It is thought that William moved to Baltimore MD after the divorce. William tried to contact the child through the help of a man named John Middleton who had one leg. They called him "Peg Leg." Any info on any of the above names would be appreciated. Thanks, Sharon
Anyone hear from Vanita Earley lately? Email to her at [email protected] was returned. And Ollie King......where are you??? Email to [email protected] was also returned. Sincerely, Mary in CA

Hi, My address was [email protected], now is [email protected] Thanks, Charlotte Miller
Joyce, This has been really confusing because I can't figure out who this James is because records for Rose Hooker Hobbs say that James Hooker is her father but they don't say who her mother is. But a Hobbs descendant said that her mother was Angeline Wagers Hooker. So I am not really sure. I will send you her obit so that you can see it. Let me know what you think. Thanks, Charlotte

Then if this is the James HOOKER who married Angeline WAGERS in Clay Co. in 1876 and she proceeded to have a dau., Zilpha (probably named after her own mother) and then a child, Barton, born abt. 1879. Then it looks as if she too has died by the time of the 1880 Fed. Census. If that is the case, then Rose HOOKER, b. 1885 cannot be the dau. of Angeline WAGERS. She could be the dau. of one of James and Emily's dau.'s You'll have to let me know what you think on this. 1880 Clay Co. Dwelling 206-206 HOOKER, James, 53, b. West Virginia; father b. Connie, Thanks, that is really interesting. I didn't know any of those Hobbs, but my mom and dad were friends with Vernon Hobbs and his wife and his brother Fred Starrett. Did you know any Starrett's? Thank you again. Yes I hope to learn about them too. I am trying to find out which James Hooker married Angeline Wagers. I think that I remember that hotel too. Talk to you later, Charlotte
Charlotte, I knew Oliver Hobbs who is listed below as one of the children of Noah Hobbs & Rosa Hooker. He married 1- Carrie Beatrice Baker and 2- Georgia Unknown. His first wife, Carrie was my cousin, and she died just a couple of years ago at over 90 years old. I, also, knew Georgie Hobbs and visited her in her home over in TN in 1992 or 1993. She's passed away now. Oliver ran the run-down Boone Trail Motel in Pineville where he was a well-known bootlegger. Georgie owned a lot of property in Bell Co, and it's passed down to her sons. At least three of her sons are/have been involved in drug dealing. They are her sons by her first husband who was a Callebs. Crit Callebs served time in the federal pen for being a drug kingpin, and was released a few years ago. He was married to Tim's sister, Cassandra, and they have two children. He and Tim graduated together and were good friends. His younger 1/2 brother, Ashley Hobbs is Oliver and Georgie's son. Ashley was in my class when I went to s! chool in Pineville. He's a good guy. All the Callebses and Ashely are very likeable, but just won't work. Really, they've never had to as a result of their mother's indulgence and saving ways, as well as Oliver making a bunch of money bootlegging. Just about anyone who lived in Bell Co in the '60's and earlier knew Oliver Hobbs. The Boone Trail was not far from my grandparents house. I can see it in my mind now. How interesting to see his lineage. I'd wondered where he fit in. Also, I'm familiar w/ the Wagers family that lived at Big Creek in Clay Co. It's just over the county line from Red Bird. A friend I taught school w/ in Lex's mother was Marie Wagers. Marie's parents were Matt Wagers and Bertha Smith. I've visited in their home at Big Creek, and saw a picture of a Marcum ancestor who was obviously Indian. Now, I'm not sure whether or not the Marcums are on the Wagers or Smith side. Well, I had to comment on those connections! Hope you get some better responses than mine. Take care, Connie ----- Original Message ----- From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, November 06, 2002 3:19 PM Subject: [KYBELL] James HOOKER/Angeline WAGERS I am trying to find information on this family: Descendants of James Hooker 1 James Hooker .. +Angeline Wagers b: 1848 ....... 2 Rose/Rosa Hooker b: May 07, 1885 in Clay Co, Ky d: August 12, 1971 in Pineville, Bell County, Kentucky Burial: Pineville Memorial Cemetery, Pineville, Bell Co., Ky. ........... +Noah Hobbs b: February 19, 1876 in Knox County, Kentucky d: May 16, 1964 Burial: Pineville Memorial Cemetery, Pineville, Bell County, Kentucky ................ 3 Alifair Hobbs b: 1897 .................... +James Bates ................ 3 Warden Hobbs b: 1902 in Bell Co., Ky. .................... +Mamend Arbogen b: 1906 in King County, Washington ................ 3 Oliver Hobbs b: July 22, 1907 ................ 3 Cleopatra Hobbs b: 1909 in Bell Co., Ky. ................ 3 Lee Hobbs ................ 3 Vera C.
