    3. Hello, I know of several people in Pineville KY who may be connected to your Woods family. Fred, Raymond Woods connect to my Hendrickson family. If you do a search on http://www.switchboard.com/ it will give you several more Woods families who live in Pineville. I just put the last name Woods and Pineville KY and was able to find 11 names and numbers. It might be that some of the families shown here are connected to your line. Your grandmother might even know of them. Kay Goforth Adams Middlesboro, KY

    3. I talked w/ my grandmother who is 90 about the Lucy Gragg/Ray Wood family. She believes there was just one family of Wood (s) who lived in Pineville. There is another family that spelled their name Woods that is not related. Lucy Gragg and Ray Wood were a little older than marrying age when they married and had William R. Wood, Jr. Ray Wood had a heart attack and died not too long after their son was born. Ray Wood had one sister named Mary Buford Wood who was a good friend of my grandmother's. Mary Buford was probably born in about 1912 or so. I'm not sure if Ray was younger or older. Lucy Gragg's family was fairly prominent in Pineville. Her brother, I believe it was Renfro, served as mayor of Pineville, and her sister Eva Gragg taught school. My great-grandmother used to sew her buttons on for her. Eva taught home ec. 3. RESPONSE: In the KY Birth CDs there is: WOOD, William R., b. Bell Co., 3-8-1944; maiden name of mother: Lucy GRAGG I don't see any other births for her. Don't see any other William R. WOODS of Bell Co. There are some others but no way to tell if they might be correct because they are all removed from Bell Co. I notice that the Lucy GRAGG WoOD is a widow as of 1961. No telling when her husband actually died. Joyce Taylor Collins La Palma, CA Message text written by INTERNET:[email protected] >Pineville Sun Newspaper.
