Mary Thanks! this could very well be. Every one back then named their children after some one in the family. My Grandma Lovey Jane Lee had a son named John, ger name being Jane in it must of come from her grandma Elizabeth Jane Lee. Her brother John? Do you suppose thats how people kept track of what tribe they were of. What outfit thay belonged to. Do you know if Sylvania was born in Harlan Co. or Bell Co.? I can`t find her death date eather. I understand she died in a mental hospital. Could of been the change of life back then or maby He cheating husband pushed her to far. After having a boy murdered and a husband running off with another woman, then dying. She needed a good break down, don`t you think? Well this is a sensetive subject to me. RESPONSE: I am not researching SIMPSONs but have some few in my data base. Am I correct in assuming you don't really know who your SiMPSON family is beyond the more recent few generations? If that is so, then I would make a suggestion you post some family information to either this Mail List or to the Message Board for Bell Co. wherein you provide what you do know. That is, YOUR complete name and birthdate and place, your parents and their approx. dates and and birthplaces, your mother's maiden name, if known; your grandparents' names and their approx. dates of birth and places , where they lived, etc. etc. There are SIMPSONS in Bell Co. who may have earlier been in Clay or Leslie or some other county. It is a fairly large family. In this way, someone may be able to connect them back to the 1930, 1920, 1910, 1900 Fed. Census and so on and so forth until you will be able to know who your relatives were. I will look for your posting and will help you, if I can.
