October 12, 1944 Mr. George Warner, Mr. Taulbee Warner, and Mr. Adrain Cline of Dayton spent their vacation recently with home folks. October 12, 1944 Funeral Services for James William Sharp, 79 of Sharpsburg were conducted at the Crown Hill Cemetery. October 13, 1949 Mr. Don Hartman and mother of California visited their cousin Mrs Victoria McGlothlin at Salt Lick. Mr. and Mrs. Orville J. Sorrell spent Sunday night with her grandmother, Mrs Belle Atchinson and sons. February 18, 1892 Marriage licenses were issued Feb., 12th to Olonzo McCarty and Mary Goldy and Jeff Mannin and Mary Guy. Mr. Frank DeBoard, an old citizen of this county, and late of this town, died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Mary A. Kontz, last Thursday morning. February 15, 1894 Born to Ben Spence and wife of Knob, twin boys. Solomon Spratt died on Indian Creek, Monday night of cancer. Remains interred at Bethel Wednesday. February 16, 1899 Mrs. Ellen Cassidy, widow of Alvin Cassidy died of paralysis at the age of 72 last Friday night at her home near Stepstone. Died February 7th, Mrs Martha Kerr Staton, 93, widow of David Staton. February 13, 1936 A.W. Butler, 91 years old, died Wednesday night, Feb. 12th at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Freeland in Mt. Sterling. February 15, 1945 Captain Seth Botts, 31, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mason H. Botts of Sharpsburg, was killed in action in Belgium, January 26th. February 16, 1961 Master Todd Walton has returned to his home on Louisville after a two- weeks visit with his grandmother, Mrs. Leslie Shrout. January 21, 1901 A. G. Peters died at his home in Mt. Sterling Thursday of pneumonia. A wife and three children survived. January 22, 1903 Will Oakley of Sharpsburg was in Olympia to see his brother Robert Oakley. He has just returned from Holden, W. Va., where he was called by the illness o his brother, Levi. Joe Wright of Salt Lick, who accidentally shot himself while out hunting with some boys, died Sunday at the hospital in Lexington.
