Children: Martha, Allen, Maria, Maranda, Matilda, Thomas Jefferson, America, Malinda, Mary Ann all born in Bath Co KY from ca 1800-1821. After Charles's death, they migrated to IN and then to IA. Jennie or Jane died in Morgan Co IN. Charles HICKLIN was the grandson of Thomas HICKLIN who was a captain in the Rev War, but we've been unable to prove who Charles's father was. I wrote to the Bath County Courthouse for any mention of a will, but never received an answer. Thanks! Pat Shaw Birmingham, Iowa >> Pat, Could the name also be Ficklin/Fickland?? Just curious. This will be a great place to start to look now. For some reason names get changed. I found in the Bath Co. KY 1820 Census: Thomas Fickland age 26-45 1-male 10-16 1-female 16-26 1-female 10-16 and in the 1820 Census is a Charles HICKLAND age 26-45 1-male under 10 1-male 16-18 1-male 16-26 1-female 16-26 4-females under 10 3-females 10-16 2-females 16-18 This may be your Charles. In 1830 Charles HICKLAND is there again age 50-60 His wife is age 50-60 1-male 5-10 1-male 15-20 1-male 20-30 1-female 5-10 3-females 10-15 1-female 15-20 You probably already have this information but just in case.
