Gee! Guess I better be good to myself now, I just realized I haven't gotten even a "Nibble" after over a hundred emails to the list. I kept thinking someone would lay a big HIT on me but it didn't Happen so here is what I need. I want someone to tell me about HANNAH ? b. ca. 1786 SC [according to the 1850 census] who married among others....Augustine McCarty who died in 1820 in Bath Co. KY and Hannah is on the 1820 Census as head of household. In 1830 the Head of house hold is JOHN NORRIS and rightfully so since he and Hannah married 30 Dec., 1829. They are together in 1850 Census and then "Poof" they are gone. Where did they go? When did they die? Where are they buried? Hannah had lots of kids....some McClains and some McCarty's. Are all the kids legitimate? I try to put everyone together in a nice tight marriage situation and I know better than that. I have some of my ancestors from Morgan County who were never married.....of course I know the Bath Countians didn't act like that. However, the answer to this 25 year old mystery would please me very much..........Since Joanne has promised to meet me half way and buy me a steak dinner if we find Hannah....that makes the find a lot sweeter. Now.......Plese do not run off to Rootsweb or FTM or LDS and come back with a contrived name for Hannah...its been tried before......LOL My other surnames from Bath County are: McCullough/McCulley, Basford, Thornburg, Wills, Norris, Rogers, McClain, McCarty, McKenzie,ETAL. As you can see I have a little Scotch/Irish to deal with. I have most of my line on Thornburg other than collateral lines......I really need the old McCulley's [imagine naming a "Hollar or Branch" after a McCulley and no McCulleys there??] There is one in Bath County KY. And the Old Basfords. I am told my John Basford b. ca. 1770 VA married Elizabeth Norris b. ca. 1792 in Mason Co. KY???? I have a few of their children I think. Isaac. b. ca. 1810 m. Mariner McCarty d/o Hannah James b. ca. 1820 m. Mahala McCulley Andrew Jackson "Jack" b. ca. 1824 m. Lucy Ensign Mary A. b. ca. 1830 m. Isaac Reid/Reed Martha A. b. ca. 1832 Now it seems there are too many gaps here so I think there are lots more kids running around. Anyone care to speculate? The McCulley s? On Mahala McCulley Basfords Death Certificate it states she is the daughter of Samuel McCulley..She may be. It states she was born in Pendleton Co. KY.....Maybe so. I am unable to tie any Samuel McCulley to her but someone in the family named a son Samuel Basford? [I do pay attention to the names of the children] I believe that Elizabeth McCulley who married Elisha/Elijah Sorrell 7 Jan. 1840 is related to my Mahala McCulley.b. ca 1842 I am sure there were more McCulley children too. As you can tell I really need help and have been on this list since its inception and no help...... Please let me and the list know if you have something to add to what I have told you.
