It depends on whether it is a birth, death marriage or divorce, you are lookng for. Birth certs. there, are certified and are $9 and soon going to $10 each. That will be for the newer ones about 1949 and up. For ones before that, it would be more economical to go to the Archives in Frankfort or your nearest LDS or library that have the microflims or fiche that you can make a copy of the original for about 50 cents each. The Ky Historical Society in Frankfort also has the microflim and fiche. The Archves has a box of fiche for divorces, but they are more current years, such as 1960's & up. As for death certs. if you subscribe online to a site like ancestry. com, you can look up the Ky Death Index and search your name if they died between 1911-1994 ( I think 94) and it will give you the certificate # as well as the vol. #. I'm sorry, I can't remember when the films of the death certs begin that you can get for 50 cents. Obviously, the newest will have to be purchased through Vital Recods. I hope this information helps. Where does one get ahold of birth/death certs? Even the newer ones (after 1911) aren't one site at the courthouse. The little lady at the Courthouse said they hadn't kept those papers in years and years. Thought they mailed them somewhere, but didn't know for sure. The suggestion was that I look in the cemetery. Any clues? I'm needing a few from right about 1899 and even though they might not be available, I'd love to check anyway. Thanks Gayle Swoik IL Robert Rogers wrote: > > Vivian, > > You talked about looking through all of these old records, but didn't say exactly where.
