Hi Folks, My name is John Souder. My Grandfather is Elbert Walker McKinney known as Bert McKinney. His second wife was Lula Pieratt according to the my Grandfather's family Bible. She had TB before they were married and my grandfather knew that she was going to die but he decided to marry her anyway.... so the family story goes. I have a date for their marriage as 30 Jun 1906. Lula died on the 12th of Apr 1907 but I am not sure where. I strongly believe it was Rowan, Bath, or Morgan counties. I do not know Lula's parents. I am not sure when Lula was born but have "guesstimated" it at about 1880??? I have not been able to find their marriage records OR anything on her..... My Grandfather was from BATH county and lived also in ROWAN county most all of his life. MORGAN county is right next door, as you know AND my Grandfather taught school very close to Morgan County in his earlier years around the community of YALE and LICKING UNION, Ky. Can you help or direct me to other Pieratt researchers?? I am not really a Pieratt researcher, but I do have an Elizabeth Pieratt (or Perrat) as the first wife of George Washington Goodpaster (or Goodpasture). I am descended from his second wife, Elizabeth Oakley. I have a reference to Elizabeth Pierratt's parents from a Biographical sketch of George W. Goodpaster from "Kentucky: A History of the State" (6th ed., 1887) by Perrin, Battle & Kniffin (also posted 12 December 1999 on U.S. Biographies Project) as follows: "He was married in 1833 to Elizabeth Pieratt, of Bath County, daughter of James and Sarah (Tipton) Pieratt, natives, respectively, of Bath and Estill Counties. No children were born to this union. Mrs. Goodpaster died soon after marriage ..." This is from my database: GEORGE* WASHINGTON GOODPASTER was born 05 Feb 1812 in Bath Co., KY, and died 18 Apr 1900 in Montgomery Co., KY. He married (1) ELIZABETH PIERATT 18 Oct 1833 in Bath Co., KY, daughter of JAMES PIERATT and SARAH TIPTON. She was born in Bath Co., KY, and died Feb 1834 in Bath Co., KY. They had no children. He married (2) ELIZABETH* OAKLEY 26 Apr 1838 in Morgan Co., KY, daughter of JOHN* OAKLEY and MARGARET* LEWIS. She was born 23 Dec 1817 in West Liberty, Morgan Co., KY, and died 1863 in Montgomery Co., KY. They had eight children. He married (3) ELIZABETH A. AMYX 18 Nov 1864 in Morgan Co., KY, daughter of JOSEPH AMYX and FRANCES NICKELL. She was born 08 Nov 1842 in Morgan Co., KY, and died 30 Sep 1887 in Montgomery Co., KY. They had five children. I have no idea if this is a connection to your Pieratt, but I hope it helps some.
