Hi to all, I am stuck at my gr-gr-grandfather, George W. Johnson. In the 1860 census, he was living in Bath COunty KY withJohn Johnson, John's wife Nellie, and eight other children. "Washington" was listed as being 16 & a farmhand. Birthplace of entire household is listed as Kentucky. I can find John & Nellie Johnson in the Bath county 1850 census, but there's no sign of George or Washington. This particular census enumerator seems to be very careful about children with different surnames within a household. I'm wondering if George Washington Johnson might be a nephew or even a younger brother of John Johnson, but have no idea who John's father was. George Washington Johnson married Catherine Raburn, also of Bath County, in 1863. I'm also still trying to find him in the 1870 census-- Catherine is enumerated with her mother at that time, in Montgomery county. I know there are a gazillion Johnsons, half of them in Bath County, KY, & at least a dozen named George Washington. But does anyone have any suggestions about this particular brick wall? Anyone know if marriage bonds exist for 1863 that might list his parents? Any suggestions cheerfully, even desperately accepted. Pat Hobson
