Archives Rootsweb ----- Original Message ----- From: susan abernathy To: Donna & Bob Sent: Tuesday, December 04, 2001 7:12 AM Subject: Bath Co and family Donna Brenda Otis in Brown Co Ohio has been sending information through your website....I have become interested in finding out about my family tree on that side of the family in Bath Co....My family name there is Goodpaster.......I know some of the family but most are all gone......I will tell you a little...I have no idea where you are so you may not understand these places...... Most of the family comes from the owingsville, salt lick, Peasticks. (yes that is a place) and Polksville area that I know of......My Grandfather 's name was Elize Goodpaster and he married my grandmother Violetta who also was a Goodpaster but not related(as far as anyone knew)......there were Mckinely, Mort,Morgan, Lillian. Emma and Julie + grandpa...Emma now lives in Mt Sterling and Lillian Toy is in nursing home in Owingsville I think.. not sure.....The parents were Arnold and Elizabeth (sharp) the family home was made into a Funeral home bought by Robinson not sure if still there in Owingsville.....Mckinely was School Supt..another one was Kent..he married Mae who was blind for many yrs and well known in Owensville. lived on bath ave close to school think.....Im trying to find out about Arnold and Elizabeth...who their parents were and where they came from..I know they are buried in Owingville cemetery....I also am lookin for record of grandmother's birth and marriage too.....I think she was from Peastick area for there is a church there that her sisters were buried in.....I think there is bout 8 or 9 of them Arizona and Lizzie are the only ones I remember and and her last sister is still alive they tell me......named Mabel Cory......she lives close to Owingsville..... I need to know where I can find infomation from county records.....can you get this on line or do I have to come all the way to Owingsville and is this public Record...... Im retired now and really interested in the family..I understand they helped settle the area ..... I would love any suggestions or help or names you can give me in my search...This is all new......On my fathers side who was from Ohio they had a family bible with all the family info in it from my Great Great Great Great grandfather up to present time........so we were lucky there it could be traced back to England.... We think the Goodpaster name came from Dutch ancestors....not sure.. and came to Kentucky from Maryland.....that is for the whole goodpaster group not just our family............. Thank you for any help you can give me or light you can shed and if none can be found then thank you for your time.................................Sincerely, Sue Abernathy Goodpaster Family sabernathy@intouch.net

Yes, I agree with you, Jan. This latest VIRUS is SO prolific !! It seems I am receiving at least two a day, BUT, Norton Anti Virus Screener is alerting me to them all. Right, "get a life", or better, the cave with Osama would do it !!! You can go to http://housecall.antivirus.com/pc_housecall/ and get a free check of your computer to see if you have a virus. I have also been getting mail from folks on the list who have a virus in their system. Even though it doesn't come from rootsweb you still can have a virus. Darrell
I've received numerous e-mail with an attached file containing the virus named W32.Badtrans.B@mm. I've checked and it is not being sent from the Bath County List server. This Rootsweb server will never send email to you that has an attachment. If you received this virus it was sent from someone who has your email address in his address book. If you want to learn more about this virus go to the following site: http://www.sarc.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.badtrans.b@mm.html Jim Sorrell
When a person correspond with you and adds your address to their Address Book.......the virus they unknowingly receive attaches itself to every one of those addresses without their knowledge and sends the virus out without them even knowing about it. I know because it happened to me and then I bought Norton Anti Virus screener. I have received about 25 of these virus messages but Norton caught them all. And it also adds an "underline" to their names so when you try to "reply" to tell the person they are infected, it comes back as undeliverable. Whoever starts these things needs to get a life OR as one person said, they should go live in a cave with Osama!!!! Obituary of Jonas Reynolds, husband of Martha D. Rayburn Reynolds. From the Bath County News Outlook, Thursday March 12, 1936. Jonas Reynolds, 85 years old, farmer of the Salt Wells section, died at his home at 8:30 o'clock Tuesday morning following a heart attack. Mr. Reynolds lived only a short time after he was stricken and had been in apparently good health up until a few minutes before his passing. A man of irreproachable character, Mr. Reynolds was one of the most highly respected men in this county. He had lived quietly, met his obligations promptly and held himself above the petty affairs of his community. He was a native of Bath county, a son of Thomas and Amy Warner Reynolds, born December 1, 1850. His forbears were among the early families of this section of the state. Besides his wife, Mrs. Martha Raburn Reynolds, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Walter Quisenberry and Mrs. Tom Jones, of Stepstone, and seven sons, Allie and Talmadge of Mt. Sterling, and Virgil, Clarence, Fred, Clay, and Walter Reynolds, all of this county. Funeral services were held at his residence two miles west of Owingsville Thursday afternoon, March 12, at two o'clock, conducted by the Rev. Henry S. Ficklin. Interment was in the family lot in the Owingsville cemetery.

I have traced as far as my 2G-Grandfather, Sylvester. He was b. ca 1820, m. in Bath Co, 19 Dec 1847to Mary Lynn TOMLINSON. They returbed to Jefferson Co, OH by the 1850 census. By the 1860 census the family was seperated as Mary was still in OH with her sister. According to the Adutant General's Report of the State of KY, assembled by the KY Confederate Volunteers he died in combat, 3 Jun 1863 at Murfreesboro TN. Since he returned to KY, could it have been to Bath Co. with some relative or inlaw. I haven't yet found him in any muster records. Any help would be greatly appreciated, especially with parentage. Thanks, Bob
